Yield Makes 2 servings; can be doubled

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 ounces ground lamb
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
2 pita bread rounds, halved

Steps:

  • Gently mix first 5 ingredients in medium bowl. Sprinkle with salt and pepper; mix again. Form mixture into four 2-inch-diameter 1/2-inch-thick patties.
  • Stir yogurt and cumin in medium bowl to blend. Set aside.
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Grill patties to desired doneness, about 5 minutes per side for medium. Wrap pitas in foil; grill until heated through. Unwrap pitas; transfer to 2 plates. Fill each pita half with 1 patty. Serve, passing cumin-yogurt separately.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/4 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
2 hamburger buns, split
Optional: Lettuce leaves and tomato slices

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 4 thin patties. Sprinkle cheese over 2 patties; top with remaining patties and press edges firmly to seal. , Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat 5-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160°. Serve on buns, with lettuce and tomato if desired.
