These rye slices topped with sausage and cheese are so easy and so delicious that they are sure to please. In fact, my husband loves them so much that I sometimes make them on regular-sized rye bread for dinner.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pound fresh, ground pork sausage
3 tablespoons minced onion
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup process cheese sauce
16 ounces cocktail rye bread

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage over a medium heat until it is browned and cooked through. Stir onion, garlic powder, black pepper, and process cheese into the skillet. Stir until the cheese is melted and the ingredients are well combined.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of mixture onto each slice of cocktail rye. Serve warm.

A mixture of hamburger, mild sausage and Worcestershire sauce with processed cheese melted on top. Makes a delicious snack or quick meal. Serve it on toasted slices of your favorite bread.

1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
1 (12 ounce) package sausage
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 (8 ounce) package processed cheese

Steps:

  • Place ground beef and sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown.
  • Drain the meat and mix in Worcestershire sauce. Spread processed cheese over meat, allowing it to melt. Serve warm on slices of bread.

This is another always on the menu for our Sunday Night Dinner Appetizer meal. Everyone loves these, even the picky eaters!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound(s) hot bulk pork sausage
1 - mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) oregano
1 teaspoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1 pound(s) soft cheddar cheese, cut in blocks
1 pound(s) lean ground beef
1 pound(s) loaf cocktail rye

Steps:

  • Saute sausage and drain on paper towels.
  • In large frying pan saute ground beef and drain.
  • Combine sausage and cheese with ground beef and cook until cheese is melted.
  • Add worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic powder and blend well.
  • Spread on cocktail rye and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • These can be made ahead and frozen.
  • Bake for 12 minutes if frozen.
