1 pound ground beef
4 cups water
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
3 medium carrots, sliced
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped celery
4 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup cut fresh or frozen green beans

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, brown beef; drain. Add the next 10 ingredients; bring to a boil. , Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes and carrots are tender. Add green beans. Cover and simmer 15 minutes longer or until the beans are tender.

1 pound ground beef
1 egg
¼ cup bread crumbs
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon seasoned salt
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup thinly sliced onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon cooking sherry
½ teaspoon seasoned salt

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 8 balls, and flatten into patties.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and onion in the oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the beef patties to a plate, and keep warm.
  • Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually mix in the beef broth and sherry. Season with seasoned salt. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion (diced)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
2 medium potatoes (peeled and diced)
3 ½ cups beef broth
28 ounces diced tomatoes with juice
1 can condensed tomato soup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
3 cups mixed vegetables (fresh or frozen)

Steps:

  • Brown onion, ground beef and garlic until no pink remains. Drain any fat.
  • Add potatoes, broth, tomatoes, tomato soup, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning and bay leaves. Simmer covered 10 minutes.
  • Stir in vegetables. Simmer 15-20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

1/2 lb ground sirloin
1 large yellow onion (chopped)
2 garlic cloves (chopped)
1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
28 ounces beef broth
3 celery ribs (chopped)
2 carrots (chopped)
14 1/2 ounces canned diced tomatoes (with juice)
1/4 teaspoon maggi seasoning or 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups cabbage
5 -7 new potatoes (quartered)

Steps:

  • Brown sirloin, onion, and garlic,breaking up any clumps of meat. Drain off as much fat as possible. Transfer to bowl.
  • Wipe skillet with a paper towl. add the oil and heat oer medium-high heat. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook the roux, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until it turns a rich brown. Don't rush this ; it will take 10-15 minutes If the flour burns, discard it and try again with more oil and flour.
  • Add 14oz broth and stir with a whisk until the texture is smooth. Add the remaining broth and stir until smooth. Transfer the mixture to the slow cooker. Stir in the meat and onion mixture , celery, carrots, tomatoes, Maggi seasoning, and pepper. Season with salt (If you used canned broth you may NOT need any salt at all). Add cabbage , cover and cook on high 4-6hours.
  • Serve Hot.

1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
6 cubes beef bouillon
5 cups water
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon salt
1 (10 ounce) package frozen corn kernels
1 teaspoon dried basil
3 tablespoons ketchup

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet, brown hamburger over medium heat. Drain off fat.
  • Combine beef, carrots, celery, onions, bouillon, water, tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes, salt, corn, basil, and ketchup in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours.
