I got this recipe out of an old Junior League cook book in my collection. I have never made this, but I am looking forward to giving it a try. Sounds good for the holidays.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lbs cooked ham, ground
2 cups breadcrumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
2 teaspoons horseradish
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup vinegar
1 (1 lb) can cranberry sauce
1 cup diced orange

Steps:

  • Ham Balls: Mix all ingredients for ham balls together and form into 1-inch balls.
  • Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
  • Sauce: Mix first four ingredients.
  • Stir in cranberry sauce and orange; heat until cranberry sauce melts.
  • Pour over ham balls.
  • Keep warm in chaffing dish or crock pot.

½ (16 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
1 ½ tablespoons jellied cranberry sauce
½ cup brown sugar
1 orange, juiced and zested
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon honey
2 whole cloves

Steps:

  • Stir both amounts of cranberry sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, orange zest, lemon juice, mustard, honey, and cloves in a saucepan and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and boil until cranberry sauce has melted, brown sugar has dissolved, and the glaze is thickened, 10 minutes.

The glaze on this ham is so good! The oven time and glaze amounts are for a 5-pound ham, for a larger ham adjust the cooking time. The ham must be cooked at 325 degrees, not higher.

1 (16 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1 (5 lb) ham
1/3 cup water

Steps:

  • Set oven to 325 degrees.
  • In a small saucepan combine the cranberry sauce, brown sugar, fresh orange juice, cloves, cinnamon, allspice and black pepper, if using; heat slowly stirring until smooth.
  • Place the ham on a rack in a shallow roasting pan with 1/3 cup water.
  • Insert a meat thermometer in the ham.
  • Bake until the thermometer reaches 125 degrees (about 1-1/2 to 2 hours).
  • Brush a third of the glaze on the ham 30 minutes before the end of baking time.
  • Spoon on the remaining glaze every 10 minutes (within the 30 minutes).
  • After removing the ham from the oven, let stand for 15 minutes before carving.
  • Delicious!

1 boneless fully cooked ham (5 pounds)
1 can (14 ounces) whole-berry cranberry sauce
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 to 1-1/2 teaspoons ground mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. Line a roasting pan with foil. Place ham on a rack in prepared pan. Bake, covered, 1 hour., Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, whisk remaining ingredients until blended. Remove 1 cup mixture for glaze; reserve remaining mixture for sauce. Brush ham with some of the glaze mixture. Bake, uncovered, until a thermometer reads 140°, 35-45 minutes, brushing every 10 minutes with remaining glaze., Warm reserved sauce mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally; serve with ham.
