And because we're all adults here, now is not the time for the bargain bottle of vodka. Invest in something smooth and crisp to make a drink that's refreshing, sweet and just a little boozy. Just don't forget the final touch: a cherry (or several) on top!

2 ounces vodka
1 ounce grenadine
1 (7.5-ounce) mini can lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite, chilled
1 maraschino cherry, for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill a large highball glass with ice. Add the vodka and grenadine, then top with the soda. Garnish with the cherry and serve.

1/2 c your favorite champagne, spumante or sparkling wine, chilled
1/4 c orange juice
1 cap full of grenadine
1 maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • 1. Pour 1/2 cup champagne into a fluted glass.
  • 2. Add 1/2 cup orange juice.
  • 3. Add cap full of Grenadine.
  • 4. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
  • 5. To make a traditional non alcoholic Shirley Temple substitute champagne for ginger-ale.
