When I made this I couldn't find peach preserves, so I substituted apricot preserves which worked well. It's simple and quick. From Bon Appetit.

This southern-style main course is especially good with steamed green beans, some old-fashioned potato salad, sliced tomatoes and buttermilk biscuits. Or try it with your breakfast eggs.

~ MOUTH WATERING PEACH GLAZED HAM STEAKS ~

I used to never like a sweet sauce on my ham, but I make an exception for this particular glaze. It would be great for glazing a whole ham and I think it would be equally as good on pork loin. I hope you try it sometime. It's wonderful!

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 Tbsp oil
1 thick ham steak - cut into desired portions ( i only made 1/2 of a steak this time )
1/8 c brown sugar
1/4 c water
1 1/2 Tbsp butter
1/4 - 1/3 c peach preserves - i use bama
1 Tbsp honey
1/4 tsp mustard
pinch each - ground cinnamon & ground cloves

Steps:

  • 1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the water, sugar, preserves, spices, mustard and honey. Bring to a boil and then simmer until a syrup consistency. ( About 3 - 4 minutes )
  • 2. I use my iron skillet when making glazed ham. Use any skillet you prefer. Over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon oil and brown both sides of ham, until they begin to caramelize around the edges.
  • 3. Once ham is to desired brownness, evenly pour half the glaze over ham and move ham around to coat. Cook another few minutes, watching the glaze doesn't burn. I thicken the remaining glaze a few more minutes, while finishing off the ham.
  • 4. Plate and pour remaining glaze over steaks and serve. Delicious!
