GREEN BEANS WITH TOASTED ALMONDS ~ NICE SIDE DISH
Green beans are plentiful year round and most people like them so we feel comfortable serving to guests. This year I am going to make them this way for Thanksgiving side dish instead of my usual green bean casserole with the soup, etc. This recipe came from Ocean Spray believe it or not, and the pictue.

Steps:
- 1. Place 1" of water and beans in a 3 quart saucepan. Bring to boil on medium-high heat then reduce to medium. Cover, cook until beans are crisp-tender. Around 6-10 minutes. Drain
- 2. Melt butter in heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add almonds and cook and stir until almonds are golden brown around one to two minutes.
- 3. Remove from heat and stir in beans. Season with salt and pepper. A member Nancy made a suggestion to cook the beans in bacon drippings and sprinkle lemon zest on them. 6 Servings ~~ 5 1/2 cups total

Steps:
- Cook green beans 5 minutes in 1-inch boiling water, covered. Drain beans and return pan to heat.
- Add oil and butter pat to the pan. Toss beans in oil and melted butter. Season beans with a little salt and transfer to a serving plate.
- Garnish green beans with toasted slivered or sliced almonds.
