A green bean casserole with the addition of cheese for an extra boost of flavor. The Ritz cracker topping is a nice tasty finish for this casserole. This may become one of your favorite holiday side dishes.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1/4 cup onion, diced
1 cup sour cream
3 cans green beans, drained (15 ounce cans)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
24 Ritz crackers, crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine 2 tablespoons margarine and flour, cook gently. Remove from heat. Stir in salt, onions and sour cream; stir in beans. Place bean mixture in shallow 2 quart casserole dish. In a small bowl, toss together cracker crumbs and remaining butter. Top beans with cheese and follow with cracker crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese is bubbling.

2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp white sugar or splenda
1/4 c onion, diced
1 c sour cream
(3)14.5 oz can(s) french style green beans, drained
2 c shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c crumbled buttery round crackers
1 Tbsp butter, melted

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350F. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth, and cook for one minute. Stir in the salt, sugar, onion, and sour cream. Add green beans, and stir to coat.
  • 2. Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish. Spread shredded cheese over the top. In a small bowl, toss together cracker crumbs and remaining butter, and sprinkle over the cheese. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.
