This delicious hearty soup is easy to prepare and can be kept warming stovetop or in a slow cooker until ready to serve.

2 tablespoons Canola oil, divided
2 pounds beef stew meat, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
2 cups chopped onion
2 cups sliced or chopped carrot
4 garlic cloves, minced or grated
2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried sage
4 bay leaves
32 ounces beef broth
3 (15.8) ounce cans Bush's Cannellini Beans; drained (or Bush's Great Northern Beans)

Steps:

  • Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon canola oil and heat to a ripple.
  • Add beef to pan and brown on all sides, working in batches if needed. Remove the beef from pan.
  • Add remaining 1 tablespoon canola oil to pan and heat. Add onion, carrot and garlic; saute for 5 minutes.
  • Return beef to the pan. Stir in water, salt, black pepper, thyme, sage, bay leaves, beef broth and beans. Bring to a simmer. Cover and allow to simmer for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until beef is tender.
  • Discard bay leaves. Salt and pepper to taste.

1 gal water
4 c " bagged, great northern beans", sorted, washed, rinced and soaked
2 beef bouillon, cubes
1/4 c worcestershire sauce
1 can(s) diced tomato's (canned is fine) preferably seasoned with onion and celery
1 1/2 c diced onions
1 c diced carrots
1 c diced celery
1/2 c chopped left over round steak
3 dash(es) mrs. dash grill mates, steak seasoning
WARMING AND DELISIOUS, FOR THOSE COLD DAYS.

Steps:

  • 1. Sort, rinse, soak your beans first.
  • 2. Place water on a boil, add beans tomatoes and fresh vegetables. Do not drain the tomatoes. Just pour the whole can in.. It adds flavor.
  • 3. After soup has boiled for approx 2hr.. Add the meat. Continue to cook on medium boil for 1 more hour. Stir occasionally to prevent any sticking or burning.
  • 4. Now, you can Add your beef bouillon cubes, Worcestershire sauce and the Grill Mates seasoning. You can add any other spices you choose. Some, Tabasco sauce will spice this up nicely. Let the soup simmer on medium boil for another hour.
  • 5. When your beans are at your preferred tenderness, serve it up!
  • 6. You can also add shredded cheese as a topping garnish.. I prefer, shredded Colby Jack. Garlic bread is also great with this!

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced fresh carrots
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 cups water
1 can (15-1/2 ounces) great northern beans, rinsed and drained
3/4 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup Italian stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup cubed peeled potato
1/2 cup frozen cut green beans
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, saute the onion, celery and carrots in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until heated through. Discard bay leaf.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 carrots, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
4 cups vegetable broth
1 large potato, chopped
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch ground thyme
2 (15 ounce) cans great Northern beans, rinsed and drained

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a stockpot over medium heat. Cook and stir onion and garlic in hot oil until the onion is tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir carrots and celery into the onion mixture. Pour vegetable broth into the stockpot; add potato, bay leaves, basil, sea salt, pepper, and thyme. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook at a simmer until the vegetables are beginning to soften, about 20 minutes.

2 strips bacon (diced)
2 pounds ground beef (lean)
1 large onion (chopped)
1 cup chopped celery
2 cloves garlic (minced)
3 medium carrots (thinly sliced)
2 cups beef broth
2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1 (4-ounce) can chili peppers (green, mild)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper or a dash of cayenne pepper
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 (15-ounce) cans beans (pinto, great northern, small red, or mixture)

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven or stockpot over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove the bacon to paper towels to drain.
  • Add the ground beef, onions, and celery to the bacon drippings; cook, stirring, until the beef is no longer pink. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute longer. Add the carrots, beef broth, tomatoes, peppers, Worcestershire sauce, salt, chili powder, and chipotle or cayenne pepper.

1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (15-1/2 ounces) great northern beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups chopped cabbage
1 cup sliced carrots
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley

  • In a large saucepan, cook sausage and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the next 11 ingredients. Bring to a boil. 10 cups water
1 lb dried great northern beans (about 2 cups)
2 bay leaves
1 large onion, roughly chopped
1/2 lb bacon, diced (or ham, etc.)
1 lb whole tiny potato, unpeeled
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
3 tablespoons instant beef bouillon (I used Herb Ox)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 garlic cloves, mashed
4 carrots, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
4 stalks celery, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • Rinse and drain beans.
  • Heat water, beans, bay leaves, onion, bacon and potatoes to boiling in 8-qt. stock pot; boil 2 minutes. Turn off heat, cover, and let stand 1 hour.
  • Add tomato sauce, instant bouillon, salt, pepper, garlic and half of the carrots and celery to beans. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 2 hours (do not boil or beans will burst).
  • Stir remaining carrots and celery into soup. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 1 hour. Stir in additional 1 or 2 cups water for thinner consistency.
  • Using a slotted spoon and a wooden spoon, scoop potatoes against inside of pot and smash them, letting smashed potatoes drop back into the soup.
  • Stir in butter and milk and serve immediately.
