French Quarter Pecan Cheese Spread is an amazing appetizer for a Mardi Gras party or any get together. It's so easy to make and consists of a cream cheese disc flavored with a little onion and garlic, topped with a pecan praline sauce.

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, (softened)
2 teaspoons grated or very finely minced onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 cup finely chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon dried mustard
pinch of cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread pecans out on a baking sheet and place in oven for 6 to 8 minutes to toast. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the onion and garlic into the cream cheese. Shape into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Just before serving, cut butter into pieces so it will melt faster and place in a saucepan. Add brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dried mustard, and cayenne pepper and heat over medium-low, stirring often, until sugar is dissolved.
  • Stir pecans into butter mixture. Let cool a few minutes and then spoon on top of cream cheese.

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon grated onion
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, onion and garlic. Transfer to a serving plate; shape into a 6-in. disk. Set aside., In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Cook and stir over medium heat for 4-5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in pecans. , Cool slightly. Spoon over cheese mixture. Serve with crackers.

8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
1 teaspoon sweet onion (grated )
1 teaspoon garlic (minced )
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed )
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon brown mustard (prepared )
1 cup pecans (finely chopped )

Steps:

  • In a small pan on medium-low heat, toast pecans until they're lightly browned and fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, onion, and garlic.
  • Spoon onto a serving platter into a 6 or 7 inch round disc
  • In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. (I used this mustard.)
  • Cook on medium-low heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and stir in pecans.
  • Cool slightly before spooning over cream cheese mixture.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite crackers
