This is a great hot appetizer recipe. I made this for a dinner party and everyone loved it. I have even made it using reduced fat ingredients and it is still very tasty. It is from Taste of Home magazine and is credited to Linda Wheeler.

1 lb bulk pork sausage
4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
4 ounces shredded monterey jack cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies
10 eggs
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink; drain.
  • Place in a greased 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • Layer with cheeses, onion and chilies.
  • In a bowl, beat eggs and seasonings; pour over cheese.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 375°F for 18-22 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Cool for 10 minutes; cut into 1-inch squares.

1 pound bulk pork sausage
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chiles
1 tablespoon minced jalapeno pepper, optional
10 large eggs
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink; drain. Place in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Layer with cheeses, onion, chiles and jalapeno if desired. 1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained

1 frozen deep-dish pastry shell (9 inches)
5 large eggs
3/4 cup half-and-half cream
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the sausage, cheese, mushrooms, green pepper and onion; sprinkle into pastry shell. 1/2 pound bulk hot Italian sausage
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
2 tablespoons minced chives
1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup 4% cottage cheese
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Paprika

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown sausage and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, 4-5 minutes, breaking sausage into crumbles; drain. Stir in chives. , On a lightly floured surface, unroll crescent dough into a long rectangle; seal seams and perforations. Cut into 48 pieces. Press onto the bottoms and up the sides of greased miniature muffin cups. , Fill each with about 2 teaspoons of sausage mixture. In a large bowl, combine the eggs and cheeses. Spoon 2 teaspoons over sausage mixture in each cup. Sprinkle with paprika. , Bake at 375° until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 20-25 minutes. 1 lb bulk sausage (hot or regular)
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 cup swiss cheese, grated
1 egg, beaten
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (to taste)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
2 cups buttermilk baking mix
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 egg yolk, beaten

Steps:

  • Cook sausage and onion.
  • over low heat until sausage is browned; drain off excess grease.
  • Add cheeses, whole egg,hot sauce, salt, and parsley.
  • Make a dough by mixing the baking mix with milk and mayonnaise-it will be a sticky dough.
  • Spread half of dough over bottom of a well-greases 8 inch square pan.
  • Cover with sausage mixture.
  • Spread remaining dough over sausage mixture; brush with beaten egg yolk.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes in a preheated 400 degree oven.
  • Cut into squares and serve hot.

Steps:
