MY FAVORITE ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES
I found this recipe on a bag of Wal-mart sugar some time ago, and it was so simple, I had to try it. I have tried a zillion sugar cookie recipes, trying to get the soft cookie I like best. I think I have found the perfect sugar cookie. Please note that your cookie yield will vary, depending on what size cookie cutter you used. When I use a variety of sized Christmas cookie cutters, I normally get about 2-1/2 dozen.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, cream together sugar, butter, milk, vanilla and egg.
- Lightly spoon flour into a measuring cup, level off. Add the flour, baking powder and salt to creamed mix, mix well.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour for easier handling.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- On lightly floured surface, roll out 1/3 of the dough at a time to approximately 1/8 inch thickness (I don't whip out a measuring tape at this point--just an estimation--eyeball to the thickness that you prefer.).
- Cut with desired cookie cutters.
- Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Decorate as desired.
- Bake at 400 degrees 5-9 minutes until edges are very light golden. (In my oven, this takes about 6 minutes.) Be careful not to overbake (if you like soft cookies, as I do.).
- Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.

JUDY'S FAVORITE SUGAR COOKIES
Named for my mom, this recipe originally came from Tupperware. No other sugar cookie recipe even compares. These cookies are meant to be cut out and can be eaten plain or frosted. This recipe makes a LOT, depending on how big of cookies you cut out.

Steps:
- Cream together butter and sugar.
- Blend in vanilla and eggs.
- Add in flour, baking powder, and salt. I usually add in the first three cups of flour, with the baking powder and salt, then I slowly work in the other cups. It requires a lot of muscle near the end.
- Chill dough.
- On a floured surface, roll and cut cookies. For consistency in baking (and not burning) we use wooden rulers on either edge of the dough to make the dough all one thickness. The rulers keep the rolling pin at their level.
- Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes. Cookies will be golden along the edges, and still very soft in the middle when removed from the oven.
- Let cool on a cooling rack.

FAVORITE SUGAR COOKIES
My sister-in-law gave me this recipe years ago. We used to bake a batch up and smother them in butter cream frosting and eat and eat and eat them. Oooh, they were so good. They can be used for cut outs as well but the dough will need to be refrigerated until workable as it is sticky at room temp. I get a lot of compliments and requests for this recipe.
