This is an incredible dipping oil for crusty Italian bread served by a famous national chain.

1 tsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried rosemary
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp kosher salt
olive oil to taste (i use approx. 1 cup)
balsamic vinegar (splash)

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl except olive oil. Whisk in olive oil until it reaches the olive oil to spice ratio that you like. (Some like more, some less. I use about 1 cup.) Pour into small, shallow oil dipping bowls and add a few drops of balsamic vinegar to each. Serve with warm Italian bread.

1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Mix together the dry spices. Add minced garlic to the dry spices. Place on a small saucer. Pour olive oil over mixture. Dip with your favorite hot French or sourdough bread.

5 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon crushed dried oregano
fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Pour the olive oil onto a salad plate. Use a garlic press to press the garlic cloves onto five different spots on the plate. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the oil and garlic. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and oregano. Season with black pepper.

1 tablespoon dried minced garlic
1 tablespoon dried rosemary, crushed
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil

1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS (for each batch):
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup olive oil
1 French bread baguette (10-1/2 ounces)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months. Yield: 3 batches (1/4 cup total)., To prepare dipping oil: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 4 teaspoons herb mix with water. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 10-15 seconds. Drain excess water. Transfer to a shallow serving plate; add oil and stir. Serve with bread.
