1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
2 cups pizza sauce or pasta sauce
1 package (3-1/2 ounces) sliced pepperoni, chopped
4 slices American cheese, chopped
12 mini buns, split
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes, breaking into crumbles; drain. Stir in pizza sauce, pepperoni and American cheese. Cook and stir until cheese is melted, 4-5 minutes., Place buns on a baking sheet, cut sides up. Spoon meat mixture onto buns; top with mozzarella cheese. Bake until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. If desired, serve with additional warmed pizza sauce.

For a quick lunch or casual supper, these open-faced sandwiches are ready to eat in 20 minutes.

1/2 lb extra-lean (at least 90%) ground beef
1/4 cup finely chopped onion (1/2 medium)
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 can (4 oz) mushroom pieces and stems, drained, if desired
4 English muffins, split
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)

Steps:

  • In 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning and mushrooms. Cover and refrigerate; use within 3 days.
  • To prepare each sandwich, spread about 1/4 cup beef mixture on English muffin half. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons cheese over top. Place on microwavable napkin or paper towel (to absorb moisture).

1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
6 hamburger buns, split and toasted
1-1/2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, 3-5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar and oregano; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. , Place on ungreased baking sheets. Quick and easy recipe. This was a favorite of mine growing up. A true kid pleaser. Not spicy at all, so not for true italian food cravers.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 loaf Italian bread
1 lb ground beef
8 ounces tomato sauce
sliced American cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Brown ground beef in a frying pan, drain grease.
  • While beef is browning, slice italian bread into thick slices (about 3/4 inch thick). Each slice will be one sandwich.
  • Once beef is browned add 8-10oz can of PLAIN tomato sauce to frying pan. Simmer. Can add salt and pepper to taste.
  • While beef and sauce is simmering, toast slices of bread in oven for approx 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove toasted bread from oven and spread with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of beef mixture. Top with 1-11/2 slices american cheese.
  • Place back in oven for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  • Remove from oven and enjoy with your favorite salad!
