1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
2/3 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
FRUIT SALAD:
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
2 medium kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
3 medium bananas, sliced
2 medium oranges, peeled and sectioned
1 medium red grapefruit, peeled and sectioned
1 cup seedless red grapes

Steps:

  • Place first 6 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Cool completely. Remove cinnamon stick., Layer fruit in a large glass bowl. Pour juice mixture over top. Refrigerate, covered, several hours.

The perfect fruit salad for a backyard bbq or any occasion. There are never leftovers! This is one of my favorite fruit salad recipes, as I think the sauce really makes it. This salad is tastier the longer you can let it soak in its juices. I prefer 3 to 4 hours in the refrigerator before I serve it. Enjoy.

⅔ cup fresh orange juice
⅓ cup fresh lemon juice
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon grated orange zest
½ teaspoon grated lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple
2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
3 bananas, sliced
2 oranges, peeled and sectioned
1 cup seedless grapes
2 cups blueberries

Steps:

  • Bring orange juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, orange zest, and lemon zest to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla extract. Set aside to cool.
  • Layer the fruit in a large, clear glass bowl in this order: pineapple, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bananas, oranges, grapes, and blueberries. Pour the cooled sauce over the fruit. Cover and refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours before serving.

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the first six ingredients; bring to a boil.

  • Layer fruit in a glass serving bowl.
  • Remove cinnamon stick from the sauce; pour sauce over fruit.
  • Cover and chill for several hours.

1 head lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
1 cup diced green pepper
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 package (10 ounce) frozen peas, thawed
2 cups Miracle Whip
2 to 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a 13x9-in. pan, layer lettuce, green pepper, onions and peas; do not toss. Spread Miracle Whip over all; sprinkle with cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
