When feeling down make this warming tea Drink hot with a little milk twice a day to ward off coughs and colds. In the Middle East and Turkey, green cardamom powder is used as a spice for sweet dishes as well as traditional flavouring. In Arabic, cardamom is called al-Hayl. South Asia green cardamon is often used in traditional Indian sweets and in tea, or chai, a common ingredient in Indian cooking, and is often used in baking in Scandinavia.

4 cardamom pods
4 black peppercorns
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
4 slices fresh ginger, quarter slices
2 tablespoons honey or 2 tablespoons sugar
milk

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in 2 1/2 cups of water, heat, but do not boil, for half an hour and strain.
  • Add honey and milk. Enjoy!

1 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup water
1 (1/4-inch-thick) slice fresh ginger

Steps:

  • Stir all ground spices together in a small bowl.
  • Bring water to a boil. Add 1/8 teaspoon spice mixture and ginger and simmer 4 minutes. Pour tea through a fine sieve lined with a coffee filter or paper towel in a cup.

1 teaspoon cardamom
3 -4 cinnamon sticks
1/4-1/2 cup sugar
3 cups milk (2% or whole)

Steps:

  • Simmer water, black tea leaves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, and sugar for 10 minutes.
  • Add the milk and heat just until hot.
  • Strain and serve.
