FROSTY ORANGE DREAM SQUARES

40 vanilla wafers, finely crushed (about 1-1/2 cups)
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 pkg. (3.4 oz. each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
2 cups cold milk
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
2 cups orange sherbet, softened

Steps:

  • Line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Mix wafer crumbs and butter; press onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Beat pudding mixes and milk in medium bowl with whisk 2 min. Stir in half the COOL WHIP; spoon over crust. Refrigerate 10 min.
  • Add remaining COOL WHIP to sherbet; whisk until blended. Spoon over pudding layer in crust.
  • Freeze 3 hours or until firm. Use foil handles to remove dessert from pan before cutting to serve.

½ cup butter, softened
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
½ cup candied cherries, quartered
½ cup flaked coconut
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cream together the butter or margarine with 1/2 cup of the brown sugar. Stir in the vanilla and the flour. Press this mixture into the bottom of one ungreased 8x8 inch square baking pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 minutes.
  • To Make Topping: Beat the eggs and add 1 cup of the brown sugar. Stir in the 1 tablespoon all purpose flour, the baking powder, pinch salt, chopped walnuts, glace; cherries, coconut and chocolate chips. Spread mixture over the baked pastry.
  • Return to the oven and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for an additional 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool then cut into squares.

6 honey maid honey grahams, finely crushed about 1 cup
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1/2 c orange juice
1 pkg 3 oz jello orange flavor gelatin
1 pkg 8 oz cream cheese, softened and divided
1 tub 8 oz thawed cool whip whipped topping, divided
1/2 c cold milk
1 pkg 3-4 oz jello vanilla flavor instant pudding
1 tsp orange zest

Steps:

  • 1. Mix graham crumbs and butter, press onto bottom of 8-inch square pan.
  • 2. Microwave juice in microwavable measuring cup on high 1 minute. Add to gelatin mix in small bowl, stir 2 min. until completely dissolved.
  • 3. Gradually add to half the cream cheese in medium bowl, beating with mixer after each addition until blended. Whisk in 1 cup cool whip spread over crust. Freeze while preparing next layer.
  • 4. Beat remaining cream cheese and milk in seperate medium bowl until blended. Add dry pudding mix, beat 2 min. Stir in remaining cool whip and zest; spread over gelatin layer. Refrigerate 3 hours.
  • 5. Garnish each square with orange twist just before serving.

I found this recipes a couple of years ago in a little recipe book you usually find at supermarket checkouts. I make it quite a lot in the summer .It is great served at cookouts on a hot day. Everyone I know that has tried it loves it. Sometimes for fun I use different sherbets, lime, raspberry ect.

1-1/2 c finely crushed vanilla wafer
1/4 c melted butter or margarine.
2 c cold milk
2 box 4 servings each vanilla instant pudding
1-8 oz pkg cool whip defrosted & divided
2 c orange sherbet softened

Steps:

  • 1. Mix crumbs & butter together press into bottom of 9x13 pan,set aside
  • 2. Add milk to pudding mix. beat with whisk for 2 minutes ,stir in half of whipped topping .Spoon evenly over the crust. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  • 3. Add remaining cool whip to sherbet,stir with wire whisk until blened. Spread over the pudding mix Cover with foil freeze for at least 3 hours. Serve in squares.
  • 4. You may use graham crackers instead of vanila wafers for the bottom layer

I forget where I got this recipe, but my family has enjoyed it for years. It's a fun and different way to prepare a cake mix.

1 package pillsbury plus white cake mix
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 egg
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 deg.
  • Grease 13x9" pan.
  • In large bowl, combine cake mix, 1 cup of the rolled oats and 6 T of the margarine; mix until crumbly.
  • Reserve 1 cupcrumbs for topping.
  • To remaining crumbs, add 1 egg; mix until well blended.
  • Press into greased pan.
  • Pour cherry pie filling over crust; spread to cover.
  • To reserved crumbs in large bowl, add remaining 1/4 cup rolled oats and 2 T margarine, nuts and brown sugar; mix well.
  • Sprinkle over cherry filling.
  • Bake at 350 deg for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool completely.
  • If desired, serve with whipped cream.

  • TO MAKE BASE;

This recipe came in a email to me and it sounded so good that I wanted to keep in a safe place for future times. I have not made it yet but sure does sound delicious. NOTE: the preparation time is chilling time as this recipe needs chilled during preparation.

2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 (8 ounce) cream cheese, softned
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup a frozen strawberries, sliced, thawed and drained
3 cups Cool Whip Topping, softned and divided
2 (3 1/2 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
3 1/2 cups milk, cold

Steps:

  • In a bowl mix together the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter.
  • Press into the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish. Chill in refrigerator until needed.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the cream cheese and sugar until well blended.
  • Stir in the strawberries.
  • Gently stir in 2 cups of Cool Whip and spread over chilled graham cracker crust.
  • Beat together 2 packages of vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until thicken (2 to 3 minutes)
  • Spread over cream cheese filling and refrigerate 1 hour.

1 package of yellow cake mix (reserve 1 cup for topping)
3/4 cup melted margarine (part for base, part for topping)

2/3 cup of milk
1 can of pumpkin pie mix (if you use plain pumpkin you will need to add sugar and spices)

1 tsp cinnamon
