The original recipe for this chili came from allrecipes.com and was posted by Deb. This chili received over 2000 reviews with a five star rating. I have tweaked it to fit my family's taste. It is an excellent chili and both easy and fast to make.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 lb ground chuck
1 large onion, diced
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 1/2 c tomato sauce
1 8 oz. jar(s) salsa*
4 Tbsp williams chili seasoning, original
1 15 oz. can(s) pinto beans, do not drain
1 15 oz. can(s) red beans, do not drain
1 15 oz. can(s) light red kidney beans, do not drain

Steps:

  • 1. In a dutch oven over medium heat, combine the ground beef and the onion and saute until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain grease, if desired.
  • 2. Add the ground black pepper, garlic powder ,tomato sauce, salsa, chili seasoning mix and beans. Mix well, reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour.
  • 3. *The salsa heat is up to you...mild, medium or hot.

Ground beef with a distinctive kick. My mother's recipe and a staple when we were groung up on a budget. Great over egg noodles or rice,or just eaten like sloppy joe's or a basic chili. Enjoy.

2 lbs ground beef, preferably 80/20
1 medium onion, diced
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup water or 1/2 cup beef stock
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup barbecue sauce (I use K.C Masterpiece)

Steps:

  • Season Beef with Salt, Pepper, Garlic and Onion poweder.
  • Brown beef in large skillet.
  • Add diced onion and cook till translucent.
  • Add water, bbq sauce and ketchup and cook for 10-15 minutes over medium-low heat.
  • Serve over noodles, pasta or as a main course with potatoes or rice.
  • Also works well as a sloppy joe.
