You can use both halves of the wings, but drumettes have more meat. These wings don't make you feel as bad after having them because a lot of the fat cooks off when being broiled. Be cautious about the heat of your broiler - they would burn under my broiler if I cooked them set on high for 20 minutes. The total cooking time only includes the oven option. Enjoy!

3 lbs chicken wings, drummettes preferred
1 large onion, chopped
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup dry sherry or 1/4 cup chicken broth
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
1 tablespoon honey
2 garlic cloves, minced

Steps:

  • Rinse chicken and pat dry. Place drumettes on broiler pan. Broil on low 4 to 5 inches from heat for about 20 minutes, 10 minutes a side or until chicken is a light, golden brown.
  • OVEN OPTION:.
  • Transfer chicken to casserole dish. Mix together onion, brown sugar, soy sauce, cooking sherry (or chicken broth), ginger, honey, and garlic in bowl. Pour over chicken wings.
  • Bake at 350F for about 30 minutes.
  • CROCK POT OPTION:.
  • Transfer chicken to crock pot. Mix together onion, brown sugar, soy sauce, cooking sherry (or chicken broth), ginger, honey, and garlic in bowl. Pour over chicken wings.
  • Cover and cook on Low 5 to 6 hours or on High 2 to 3 hours. Stir chicken wings once to ensure they are evenly coated with sauce. Serve from crock pot for less clean up!

I screened the wing recipes on Zaar's site but didn't find any duplicates. I know you'll like the simplicity and taste of this wing variation as much as we did.

1 1/2 cups bottled barbecue sauce
1/4 cup honey
2 teaspoons prepared mustard (regular or spicy)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Spread wings in a single layer on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Mix sauce ingredients until thoroughly mixed.

1 c light brown sugar
1 c lower sodium soy sauce. you may use regular. i don't like salty food. your preference.
2 tsp fresh grated ginger root
1/2 c ketchup
3 Tbsp cider vinegar
4 clove minced garlic
5 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp sesame oil
4 chopped green onions
3 lb chicken wings cut in half and tips removed
2 tsp sesame seeds if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Place wings on foil lined sheet pan. Broil in oven until browned on both sides.
  • 2. Meanwhile in a large bowl mix all sauce ingredients together. Put wings in the sauce, and coat well
  • 3. Pour chicken and sauce in to crock pot. Cook on high 2-3 hours, or low 4-6 hours. Check half way through and mix to coat and move chicken wings through sauce.
  • 4. Remove wings from crock pot and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Note: if you want them extra crispy. Put them back under the broiler for a few minutes before serving.

4 - 5 lb chicken wings
1 c lower sodium soy sauce
NOTE: YOU CAN USE REGULAR SOY SAUCE AND TERIYAKI. I PREFER LOW SODIUM FOR WINGS.
1/4 c hoisin sauce
1/4 c cider vinegar
1/4 c lower sodium teriyaki sauce
1/4 c honey
1/4 c tomato ketchup regular or gluten free
1/2 c brown sugar
7 clove grated or minced garlic
3 Tbsp minced onion or 4 chopped green onions including bulb.
1/2 tsp 5 spice powder
1/4- 1/2 tsp white or black pepper
NOTE: MARINATED GRILLED CHICKEN. PLACE INGREDIENTS IN A BOWL. MIX TO COMBINE. ADD BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST OR BONELESS THIGHS. MARINATE A FEW HOURS BEFORE GRILLING.

  • 1. Place all of the ingredients eccept chicken in a large bowl. Mix well and set aside in fridge.
  • 2. Prepare chicken. You can cut the tips of the wings off. After you cut tips off. Cut the wings in half at the joint if you wish. I chose not to do it for this time. Cutting them makes them go further for a party.
  • 3. Heat oven to broil on high heat. Foil line a large baking pan. Place wings on pan and place under broiler. Broil until browned. Flip and broil other side until brown. It will take about 20 minutes or so.
  • 4. Remove wings from baking pan. Place the wings in the crock pot.
  • 5. Pour the sauce over the wings and toss to combine well.
  • 6. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or cook on low for 4 hours. Uncover once in a while and toss Wings through sauce. I usually do this every half hour.
  • 7. Transfer Wings to a foil lined baking pan. Pour some of the sauce over the wings. Place back under broiler until sauce is sticks and golden.
  • 8. Discard remaining sauce. You can place the wings in the crockpot to keep warm uncovered on low. Serve and enjoy.

2 (12 ounce) bottles franks buffalo wing sauce
1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter
2 teaspoons dried oregano

1 tablespoon minced onions or 2 tablespoons dried onion

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients except the chicken in a sauce pan and bring to a simmer. (I use Franks Buffalo Sauce but you can use any Hot Sauce or Buffalo Sauce.).
  • Place chicken in crock pot and pour heated sauce over the top. Cook on low or high. (Just depends on how fast you want to eat them.).
  • When chicken is cooked through, scoop (with a slotted spoon) onto a cookie sheet.
  • Broil on hi for 10-15 minutes (my husband likes these best when I sprinkle a dry rub over the wings before placing them in the oven. It helps hold the sauce in place and makes a slightly crispy coat). Just use any dry meat rub.Cajun, Jerk, Garlic etc. and add your own special touch!

10 1/2 oz can campbell's condensed beef broth
2 bunch green onions, chopped
1 c soy sauce
1 c plum sauce or hoisin sauce
6 clove garlic, minced
1/2 c light molasses or honey
1/4 c cider vinegar
3 Tbsp cornstarch

  • 1. Cut off the chicken wing tip ends and discard(or save and freeze -to make broth for soup). Cut the chicken wings in half at the joint.
  • 2. Stir the broth, onions, soy sauce, plum sauce. garlic, molasses and vinegar in a large glass bowl(no metal). Add the chicken and stir to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 6 hours- best overnight.
