SLOPPY JOES FOR CROCK POT OR STOVE-TOP
This can also be made either in a crockpot or on top of the stove, see cooking methods listed for both, I also like to add in a can of drained black beans but that is optional --- and to make this even more special butter the sliced buns then lightly sprinkle some garlic powder on top then toast in a skillet butter-side down before topping with the meat mixture :)

HAMBURGER HELPER SLOPPY JOES (CROCK POT OR STOVE TOP)
A sloppy Joe like no other! You can make this in a crock pot but you will need to start the recipe in a skillet firstly, then transfer to the crock pot. This is a thick rich tomato-based recipe with intense flavors, that only gets better the longer it is simmered! If you want a plain-tasting Sloppy Joe then this recipe is not for you, I developed this recipe and has become a family favorite! Use only Hamburger Helper Chili-Macaroni flavor for this! Adjust the jalapeno pepper amount (if using) to suit heat level. I serve this on my homemade cheese buns (recipe#182417) that have been sliced in half and spread with a garlic-butter Parmesan cheese mixture, then baked in the oven for about 10 minutes to crisp slightly and heat, but you can top the mixture on just plain buns, but the garlic buns are better! This recipe makes a ton but can easily be frozen to use for a next meal. This is even better if made a day ahead!

- Add in Hamburger Helper seasoning packet, water, cooked finely chopped bacon, chili powder, tomato sauce, tomato soup and sugar; cook uncovered for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours adding in more water if needed to thin to desired consistency (the longer you simmer this the richer and thicker it will be, cook only uncovered!).
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve on soft fresh buns!

CROCK POT SLOPPY JOES FOR A CROWD
I made these for a potluck at work and they were a definite hit! One thing I didn't put in the recipe: instead of using 1 bell pepper, I usually use 1/2 cup of tri-pepper mix. It's just red, yellow and green bell peppers, already diced. Publix sells it in their produce section. It's a real time saver!

CROCK POT SLOPPY JOES
This is an example of what happens when I get a hold of a recipe. This has been doctored up and changed from its original state that now it is a new creation. While some will say that soppy Joes are to be eaten open face, others will say No! I want to hold it in my hand. In our family, it is open for debate.

Steps:
- The reason I say 4 to 6 lbs of hamburger is if you like is open faced and messy then use 4lbs but if you like is firmer so you can hold it in your hand then use 6lbs either way brown the hamburger, drain fat and toss it in the crock pot.
- Add the rest.
- leave on low for 4 or more hours on low.
- I get one meal that night and freeze two for later.

SAM'S SLOPPY JOES (CROCK POT)
I thought the base of this recipe came from Zaar, but turns out it didn't. I made the base recipe with a few tweaks and came up with this. Very rich and in no way low fat. For sure a kid pleaser as my 5 yr old keeps asking for more "floppy joes" LOL I use 4 packets of Arby's Sauce in this recipe, but Zaar's editor won't letme enter that, so it's entered as BBQ sauce.
