Marinated in bourbon and grilled with creole seasonings. Quick and easy. Good served with a steamed vegetable medley of asparagus, baby carrots, zucchini, yellow squash and radishes.

2 cups Bourbon
1 lb lean top round steak (1-inch thick)
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Marinate beef in bourbon for at least 1 hour (up to 8 hours) in the refrigerator.
  • Remove from marinade, and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Combine all remaining ingredients, mixing well; press evenly into both sides of steak.
  • Grill 12-14 minutes at 140F for rare or 160F for medium, turning once.
  • Serve as whole steaks or cut steak diagonally into thin slices.

1 1/2 lbs boneless round steak
salt and pepper
1 onion, chopped
1 cup celery, sliced
1 cup seasoned tomato juice
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 (10 ounce) package frozen okra or 1 1/2 cups fresh okra
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
carrot curls (optional)

Steps:

  • Cut steaks into strips, about 1/2 inch wide and 2 inches long, sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place in crock pot with onion, celery and tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Turn control to high. Add green pepper and partially thawed okra and mushrooms. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes until okra is done. Garnish carrot curls, if desired. Serve over hot rice.
