1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
2 eggs, lightly beaten
⅔ cup milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a rimmed pizza pan or baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, stir together flour, salt, oregano and black pepper. Mix in eggs and milk; stir well. Pour batter into prepared pan and tilt until evenly coated. Arrange toppings of choice on top of batter.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until crust is set.
  • Remove crust from oven. Drizzle on pizza sauce and sprinkle on cheese. Bake until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.

1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup all-purpose flour
Dash salt and pepper
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 large eggs
2/3 cup whole milk
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • In a skillet, brown beef; drain and set aside. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, eggs and milk; beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased and floured 12-in. or 14-in. pizza pan. Spoon beef, onion and mushrooms over batter. , Bake at 425° for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven. Top with pizza sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. Return to oven and bake 10-15 minutes longer.

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 large eggs
2/3 cup milk
1 lb ground beef or 1 lb bulk Italian sausage, cooked and drained
1 small onion, chopped fine
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
1 1/2 cups pizza sauce or 1 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
2 cups pre-shredded mozzarella cheese or 2 cups pizza cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Grease and flour a pizza pan or 10 x 15 baking sheet (with sides).
  • Combine flour, salt, oregano, pepper, eggs and milk and mix well.
  • Pour batter in pan and tilt pan around until bottom of pan is evenly coated.
  • Sprinkle the cooked meat, onions and mushrooms over the batter.
  • Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and drizzle on pizza sauce.
  • Sprinkle evenly with cheese.
  • Bake for about 5 more minutes, or until cheese is bubbling.
  • Slice and serve!

Aunt Alta really loved pizza. I found this recipe tucked into her collection, which she had clipped out of a Pillsbury ad. The crust is not traditional at all...it is very thin and will not taste like a typical risen pizza crust. She made this for me when I visited her as a young teen. She used the round pizza plate, I only have a jelly roll pan. Note:You may replace the sauce ingredients with 1- 1 1/2 cups of prepared pizza sauce, if desired. My Aunt's original version was quite mild and contained no garlic, but I like lots of garlic.

1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano or 1 teaspoon italian seasoning

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce (plain)
2 teaspoons oregano
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, to taste

1 lb ground Italian sausage, cooked and drained or 1 cup pepperoni, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Have ready a 12-14" round pizza pan with a rim (or use a 10x15" jelly roll pan), lightly greased with olive oil.
  • Combine flour, salt, oregano, pepper, eggs, and mikl until smooth.
  • Pour crust batter into the pan, tilting the pan to coat evenly; you want the entire bottom covered and it will appear to be very very low and thin.
  • Sprinkle cooked sausage (or pepperoni slices) all over the batter, then do the same with the garlic,onions,green peppers, and mushrooms if using, but DO NOT ADD SAUCE OR CHEESE YET.
  • Bake on a low rack in preheated 425 F oven for 25-30 minutes until deep golden brown (to give it a crispy crust).
  • Meanwhile mix together the sauce ingredients.
  • When pizza is ready, drizzle the sauce over the pizza as evenly as you can and sprinkle cheese over the top, bearing in mind that if you add extra sauce/cheese the pizza will not be as crispy.
  • Bake another 10-15 minutes or until sauce is heated through and cheese has melted.
  • Cut into squares and serve, this is going to have a very thin crust and depending on how many toppings you added, might be a bit floppy so have a fork handy (my aunt always ate pizza with a fork).

1 1/2 lbs Italian sausages, casings removed (mild or spicy)
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (or to taste)
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup canned sliced mushrooms, well drained (or to taste)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or to taste)
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided (can use more)

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large skillet cook the sausage meat with onion, bell pepper and garlic until browned, stirring to break up the meat; drain fat and set aside.
  • Grease a 14-inch round deep-dish pizza pan then dust lightly with flour.
  • In a medium bowl mix together the flour with baking powder, salt, Italian seasoning, black pepper and cayenne pepper (if using) add in milk and eggs, stir until well blended.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan tilting pan as necessary so that the batter covers the bottom of the pan.
  • Sprinkle the top of the batter with 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, then sprinkle the sausage mixture and sliced mushrooms over the batter and cheese.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 minutes or until pizza is golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and drizzle with pizza sauce, then 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese and then top with grated mozza cheese; return to oven and bake about 8 minutes or until the crust is a deep golden brown and the cheese is melted.

2 c all purpose flour
2 eggs
1 Tbsp italian seasoning
1 1/2 c milk
1 1/2 lb ground beef or sausage
TOPPINGS
1 can(s) pizza sauce (15oz)
8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 pkg pepperoni
1 can(s) black olives, sliced
1 can(s) mushrooms, sliced

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In large skillet, brown meat until fully cooked. While meat is cooking, combine remaining crust ingredients. It should be the consistency of pancake batter.
  • 2. Spray a 9 X 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Pour batter into pan, and top with browned meat. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
  • 3. Remove from oven and spread with pizza sauce. Top with pepperoni, mushroom, and olives (or your family's favorite toppings). Sprinkle with cheese, and return to oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.

GLUTEN FREE ALMOST CRAZY BREAD AND PIZZA

This is a gluten free recipe for imitation Crazy Bread and can be used for pizza dough as well. This is a personal concoction after experimenting with different ideas for Crazy Bread once my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease. She liked it so much I wanted to share it.

4 teaspoons active dry yeast (2 packets)
1 1/4 cups warm water
1 3/4 cups rice flour
1 3/4 cups tapioca flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup rice flour (set aside)

Steps:

  • Mix all the ingredients together except the 1/2 cup rice flour that you set aside with a handmixer. Add about the extra 1/2 cup rice flour a little at a time and stir with a spoon or plastic spatula. You want it to be about the consistency of cookie dough. Add flour until you get the right consistency.
  • This recipe made enough for about one pizza and 5 large breadsticks. You can make all breadsticks or just half the recipe if you don't want pizza and breadsticks.
  • For the pizza I just used a spatula and spread it on a pizza pan. Spray the pan with cooking spray. I baked the pizza crust for about 10 minutes at 375 and then pulled it out and added sauce and cheese (and any toppings desired). Cook the pizza an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
  • For the breadsticks I pulled out sheets of tinfoil. One for each breadstick. Spread the dough again with your spatula and use the tinfoil to keep the shape of breadsticks. You'll have to spoon it out and spread it verses shaping it like you would normal dough. We brushed on a little olive oil on top of the breadsticks and then folded the tinfoil up like a tent. Cook the breadsticks at 375 for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Pull the breadsticks out and cover with garlic butter sauce and parmesan. (We cheated and bought the butter sauce packets directly from Little Caesars so it tasted pretty close to their Crazy Bread to my daughter. You can also mix 1/4 cup melted butter with 1/2 tablespoon garlic salt and brush that on top. Then sprinkle parmesan as desired.

8 ounces lean beef or 8 ounces turkey
1 (2 1/2 ounce) jar sliced mushrooms (drained)
1/2 cup onion (chopped)

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Sugar Twin
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 (7 1/2 ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. and spray an 8x8 inch baking dish with olive oil flavored cooking spray.
  • In a non stick large skillet brown meat in 1 tsp olive oil (salt and pepper the meat to taste).
  • Add mushrooms, green pepper, onion and olives. Mix well to combine.

  • Preheat oven to 550 degrees. Place pizza stone inside about 20 minutes before baking the pizzas off.
  • Shape the pizza in individual pies. Use flour to keep the dough from sticking to your work surface. Top each pie with a drizzle of olive oil, the tomato sauce, mozzarella and Romano. Give each child their own and let them top it as they like. For example you can go traditional Italian and top it with pepperoni and onion. 2-3 large/extra large egg whites
1 c mozzarella shredded
1/2 c finely shredded Parmesan reggiano cheese
PEPPER AND ONION SAUTE
1 red bell pepper
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 olive oil, lightly

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 450. Rice cauliflower. This means put freshly washed cauliflower that you have cut into florets into the food processor. Pulse until it looks like a grain.
  • 2. Place in a microwave-safe dish and nuke for 8 minutes.
  • 3. I always spread it out on a dishtowel when it's done to cool.
  • 4. Then I put it back into the center and wring out the excess water. I think this really helps it become crusty.
  • 5. Dice onions and peppers. Sauté with olive oil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  • 6. Take cauliflower, egg whites spices, and cheeses. Mix well with clean DRY hands.
  • 7. Take a sheet of parchment paper and turn over a baking sheet or chopping board. You want to be able to slide it onto the pizza stone. Lightly oil and sprinkle cornmeal. With a big serving spoon, dump a little cauliflower at a time until you can press it into a circle. Push edges up until it resembles the crust of a pizza. It should be no more than 1/4 inch thick.
  • 8. Bake until golden, about 10 minutes.
  • 9. Remove from oven and place back on an upside down baking sheet or board. Add onion and pepper mixture and spread out thinly. Top with more Parmesan and mozzarella. Bake another ten minutes. until bubbly. Keep in mind, oven temperatures vary.

Batter:
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or leaf oregano
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk

Topping:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef, or 1 cup thinly sliced pepperoni
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 (4-ounce) can mushrooms (optional)
1 cup pizza sauce or Hunt's Herb Sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • In medium skillet, brown ground beef, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. (No need to brown pepperoni, if used.) Drain well. Set aside. Lightly grease and dust with flour 12- or 14-inch pizza pan or 15x10-inch jellyroll pan. Prepare Batter. Combine flour, salt, Italian seasoning, pepper, eggs, and milk. Mix until smooth. Pour Batter into pan, tilting pan so batter covers bottom. Arrange Topping of meat, onion, and mushrooms over batter. Bake on low rack in oven at 425° for 25-30 minutes until pizza is deep golden brown. Remove from oven. Drizzle with pizza sauce and sprinkle with cheese. Return to oven for 10-15 minutes. Fun Fact: The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a yearly balloon fiesta that takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during early October. It is a nine-day event, and has around 750 balloons, the largest hot air balloon festival in the world. In addition, it is widely considered the most photographed event in the world. Tourists can hire a balloon ride most anytime of the year, as Gwen and friends did here, landing smoothly in a cul-de-sac!
