Mom's Tangy Mustard Sauce for Cocktail Franks image

Another of my Mom's recipes from our neighbor, Helene. It has a powerful sweet and tangy taste. This is nice with mini cooked cocktail franks or as a dipping sauce for "pigs in blankets." You can keep it warm in a crockpot. We like Ba-Tampte brand mustard or Hebrew National.

Beef Cocktail Franks Enrobed in Masa Harina image

Provided by Evette Rodriguez

Categories     appetizer

Time 1h25m

Yield 24 pieces

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups masa harina
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
24 beef cocktail franks

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine the masa harina and salt slowly adding the water until the dough can be rolled into a ball. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes or until smooth. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and allow to rest for 1 hour.
  • Separate the dough into 24 equal pieces rolling them into little balls. Using a rolling pin roll out the dough so that it is about 1/2-inch thick. Place a cocktail frank on the edge of the dough and roll up tucking the ends underneath the frank. Repeat the process until you've used up all of the dough and franks.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place franks on a sheet pan and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve with a side of spicy mustard.
  • Cook's note: Masa harina is found in the Latin food section of your grocery store. The cocktail franks can be frozen for up to 3 months.

HAWAIIAN COCKTAIL FRANKS RECIPE - (4.1/5)

HAWAIIAN COCKTAIL FRANKS Recipe - (4.1/5) image

Provided by รก-3059

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound cocktail wieners or franks, cut in 1" pieces
2 teaspoon French's mustard
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 cup pineapple juice

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except wieners in sauce pan. Heat, stirring until sauce comes to a boil. Add wieners and heat through. Keep in a chafing dish or Crockpot on warm setting. Serve with cocktail forks or toothpicks. Note: Use only half the amount of vinegar at first, since some vinegars are stronger than others; an excellent quality vinegar will make the dish while a cheap vinegar will be overpowering. Taste after mixing; if the vinegar is too strong, add the remaining 1/4 cup in water. Adjust to your own taste.
