BAKED HAM WITH SPICED CHERRY GLAZE

Baked Ham With Spiced Cherry Glaze image

Provided by Melissa d'Arabian : Food Network

Time 2h45m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

Cooking spray
1 7-pound bone-in fully cooked ham, skin removed
1/2 cup dry white wine (or use water)
1 cup cherry preserves
1 tablespoon creamy horseradish sauce
1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Kosher salt
Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon, plus more juice if needed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • Score the top and sides of the ham with a small sharp knife in a crisscross pattern. Put the ham in the prepared pan, flat-side down, and pour the wine or water into the bottom of the pan. Tent loosely with foil and bake until a thermometer inserted into the center of the ham registers 140 degrees F, about 2 hours.
  • Meanwhile, make the glaze: Combine the preserves, horseradish sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, cumin, 1/4 teaspoon salt and the lemon juice in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook until the glaze is slightly thickened, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon zest; let cool. Add more lemon juice to taste, if needed.
  • Remove the ham from the oven, uncover and brush with about 1/4 cup of the glaze. Bake, uncovered, 20 more minutes, brushing the ham with another 1/4 cup glaze halfway through. Remove from the oven, brush with more glaze and transfer to a cutting board. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with the remaining glaze.

1/4 cup bourbon
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 jar (13 oz) cherry preserves

1/4 c bourbon (my preference is Jim Beam because of its more smoky taste)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small saucepan, mix all ingredients together and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, making sure mixture is "saucy" (about 4-5 minutes). You can make this ahead of time and let sit until you are ready to pour it over the ham.

HAM.... HAM IN A CHERRY, COLA AND PINEAPPLE GLAZE

Ham.... Ham in a Cherry, Cola and Pineapple Glaze image

I was thinking of a different way of cooking a ham while at work, you know no peak! So I looked in the frig and cupboard to see what I could come up with as far as a glaze that could be used in a crock pot. I cooked it on a warm temperature for 4-5 hours to release all the water in the ham. Then added the glaze.

Provided by Timothy H.

Categories     Ham

Time 8h25m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 -6 lbs ham
15 cloves
10 maraschino cherries, cherryies cut in half
1/4 cup cherry juice
1/4-1/2 cup cola
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
6 slices pineapple, chunked
1/4 cup apple juice
1/4-1/2 teaspoon jalepeno ground pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Wash the ham well under cold water to remove all excess salt.
  • In a crock pot, put cut side of ham face down. Insert all the cloves into the ham.
  • Cut the cherries and pineapple in half and insert a tooth pick to keep the cherries and pineapple in place on the ham. Turn on warm for 4 hours. This will release the water in the ham. After 4 hours drain the water and discard.
  • In a medium bowl add cherry juice, cola, mustard, apple juice, brown sugar and Jalepeno ground pepper. Mix well and put into frig to chill. Pour the sauce over the ham, spread around with a spoon or brush. Then turn temp to low for 4 hours.
  • NOTE: My crock pot is very hot, some of you might need to turn it up to high to maintain the temperature Baste every 30-45 minutes. Serve hot.

CHERRY ALMOND HAM GLAZE

Cherry Almond Ham Glaze image

I came across this recipe looking for an alternative to traditional sauces for holiday meats. Mostly, I serve it with holiday ham, and it goes over well-probably because it is such a change of taste. But the glaze should be fine with almost any meat...and its cheesy color would add a festive touch to the table! Our life's busy. In addition to being a farm records analyst, my husband's a minister. I work out of our home-our girls are 4 and 1-as a hairstylist and Edd's secretary, and teach a morning each week at a Christian preschool.
