1/4 cup butter, plus
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup Cheez Whiz (or cheese grated)
2 -4 carrots, cooked and chopped
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
salt and pepper
2 cups corn flakes, crushed
3 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Saute onion in butter until soft.
  • Stir in flour. Remove fromt heat and add milk.
  • Cook til thick and add cheese.
  • Add spices.
  • Pour over carrots in a casserole dish.
  • Top with cornflakes and 3 Tbsp butter.
  • Bake covered 350F 20-25 minutes.
  • Remove cover for last 5 minutes.

This recipe came from my mother-in-law. It was the best way to get her kids to eat their vegetables. Now my sister-in-law and I take turns making this for every holiday meal.

1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
1 (6 ounce) jar Cheez Whiz
2 (16 ounce) packages frozen vegetables (I like broccoli or broccoli cauliflower carrot mix)

Steps:

  • Sauté onion and garlic in butter.
  • Add soup and cheez whiz.
  • Cook until cheez whiz melts.
  • Pour vegetables into a 9x13 oven dish or baking pan.
  • Pour Cheez/soup mixture over top of vegetables.
  • Cook at 350F for about 20 minutes or until heated thoroughly.

A good friend of mine from college gave me this recipe. She served it when we came to her home for dinner. It makes a great side-dish for any meat dish.

1 (16 ounce) package california-blend frozen vegetables (uncooked)
1 cup Minute Rice (uncooked)
2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
1 (8 ounce) jar Cheese Whiz
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 (10 ounce) can cream of chicken soup

Steps:

  • Blend Cheese Whiz, milk, water, and soup.
  • Heat until smooth.
  • Place vegetables in greased casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle uncooked rice and onion flakes over vegetables.
  • Pour sauce over all.
  • Bake covered for 45 minutes at 350°F.
  • If desired, you can double the vegetables but use the same amount of other ingredients.

1 (10 ounce) box frozen chopped broccoli or 1 head fresh broccoli
1/4 cup chopped celery (optional)
1 cup diced onion (optional)
1 (8 ounce) jar Cheese Whiz or 1 cup shredded colby cheese
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup or 1 (10 ounce) can cream of celery soup
3/4 cup milk
1 cup instant rice, uncooked or 2 cups cooked rice
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • If using fresh broccoli cook broccoli to desired tenderness. Sauté celery and onion in a bit of butter if desired. If using cooked rice, prepare rice. This can all be done ahead of time.
  • Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased 2 quart casserole with a lid (or cover with foil).
  • Sprinkle additional cheese on top.
  • Bake covered at 350ºF for 45 minutes if using uncooked minute rice, if using cooked rice bake until warm through and cheese is bubbly.

6 medium sized potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 cup Cheez Whiz, process cheese product
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup green onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Place potatoes in saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook 25 to 30 minutes until tender. Drain.
  • Mash potatoes with hand masher or electric mixer. Stir in remaining ingredients. Refrigerate until just before serving time.
  • To reheat, microwave at HIGH for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
