Number Of Ingredients 11

2 loaves (1 pound each) frozen white bread dough, thawed
1/2 pound mild pork sausage
1/2 pound bulk spicy pork sausage
1-1/2 cups diced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 large eggs, divided use
2-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Cover dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled. Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook sausage, mushrooms and onion over medium-high heat until sausage is no longer pink, breaking up sausage into crumbles, 6-8 minutes. Drain. Transfer to a bowl; cool., Stir in two eggs, cheese and seasonings. Roll each loaf of dough into a 16x12-in. rectangle. Spread half of the sausage mixture over each rectangle to within 1 in. of edges. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a short side; pinch seams to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet., In a small bowl, whisk remaining egg. Brush over tops. Bake until golden brown, 25-30 minutes. Serve warm. Freeze option: Securely wrap and freeze cooled loaves in foil and place in resealable plastic freezer bags. To use, place foil-wrapped loaf on a baking sheet and reheat in a 450° oven until heated through, 10-15 minutes. Carefully remove foil; return to oven a few minutes longer until crust is crisp.

5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1-1/2 cups warm water (120° to 130°)
1/2 cup warm 2% milk (120° to 130°)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 pounds bulk pork sausage
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
3 large eggs, divided use
1 teaspoon minced fresh basil or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Add water, milk and butter; beat on low until well combined. , Turn onto a well-floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage until no longer pink; drain and cool. Stir in the mozzarella, 2 eggs and basil; set aside. , Punch dough down; divide in half. Roll 1 portion into a 15x10-in. rectangle on a greased baking sheet. Spoon half of the sausage mixture lengthwise down 1 side of rectangle to within 1 in. of edges. , Fold dough over filling; pinch edges to seal. Cut 4 diagonal slits on top of stromboli. 2 loaves (1 pound each) frozen bread dough
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons butter, cubed
1 large egg, lightly beaten

Steps:

  • Thaw bread dough on a greased baking sheet according to package directions; let rise until doubled. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Drain and transfer to a large bowl. Add the spinach, cheeses, oregano and garlic powder; set side. , Roll each loaf of bread into a 14x12-in. rectangle. Spread sausage mixture lengthwise down the center of each rectangle. Gently press the filling down; dot with butter. Bring edges of dough to the center over filling; pinch to seal. 1/4 cup whole milk
1 lb bulk pork sausage (hot is preferred)
3/4 cup crushed saltine crackers
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
fresh ground pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg and milk together.
  • Add in the sausage, crackers, onion, and pepper; mix well using your hands to incorporate ingredients.
  • Place mixture in a lightly greased 8x4x2 inch loaf pan.
