2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons minced fresh chives
1 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, whisk the first five ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in cheese and chives. Add buttermilk; stir just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times., Pat or roll dough to 3/4-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter. Place 2 in. apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Steps:

  • Beat softened butter, chives, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl until well-combined and smooth.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Cut cold butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles oatmeal. Add Cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese; toss to coat. Stir buttermilk into flour mixture until dough is just-moistened.

2 1/4 c bisquick
3/4 c 7-up or lemon lime soda
1/4 c butter, melted plus extra to brush tops
3/4 c sour cream
1 1/2 Tbsp dried chives
1 c mild or sharp shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Add bisquick to medium size bowl then add chive and sour cream.
  • 2. Stir to blend then add the shredded cheddar cheese and 7-up. Stir till mixed together and dough is tacky.
  • 3. Pour mixture onto a floured surface and roll out then cut with a cookie cutter, or do as I do, Shape into biscuits by hand using a little extra bisquick to prevent dough from sticking to hands. Roll & shape into biscuits. Add melted butter to bottom of 9X9 size pan, then place biscuits side by side till all are done. I brushed extra butter on top before baking, or you can spray with Butter flavored cooking spray, I have used both methods and they both work.
  • 4. Bake in preheated 400 degree F. oven and bake forabout 20 to 22 minutes till golden brown.
  • 5. Remove from oven and serve with pats of butter while biscuits are still hot.

2 tablespoons buttermilk or 2 tablespoons sour milk
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450-degrees F.
  • In a large bowl combine dry ingredients together (flour - baking soda).
  • Cut in butter using two knives or a pastry cutter until mixture is about the size of peas.
  • Stir in buttermilk, cheese and chives, stirring with a fork to form a loose dough.
  • Turn dough out onto a floured board, kneading dough a few times (about 10) and then pat into a 6-inch x 9-inch rectangle; fold into thirds like a letter and then pat into a 6 x 9 inch rectangle again.

3 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 tablespoons sugar
1 pinch Kosher salt
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into small cubes, chilled
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
FOR WHIPPED MAPLE BUTTER:
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons grade A maple syrup
Pinch of kosher salt

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees F. Place bacon slices flat on a roasting tray and cook in the oven for 7-8 minutes. When brown and crispy, remove from oven and use a pastry brush to glaze with maple syrup. When cool, finely chop up into small pieces and set aside.

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 tablespoons shortening
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon chives, chopped
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/4 cups cream

Steps:

  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt and cayenne together.
  • Cut shortening and butter into the flour but don't overwork - small butter pieces are fine.
  • Toss in chives and cheddar.
  • Toss in cream until it starts to come together but don't mix too much.
  • Bake at 375°F for 15 - 17 minutes and serve with sea salted butter and maple syrup.

Cheddar Biscuits with Chive Butter image

These delectable Cheddar Biscuits with Chive Butter are a family favorite. Just as delicious as Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits without all the expense. Don't skip the easy chive butter as it really pushes these drop biscuits off the chart.

1/2 c unsalted butter softened (1 stick)
1/4 c fresh chives finely snipped
2 1/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3 Tbsp butter
1/4 c chopped scallions
2 c sharp cheddar shredded
1/2 c fresh grated parmesan cheese
1 c buttermilk
1 Tbsp buttermilk
1 egg white beaten

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2. In stand mixture with paddle attachment cream 1/2 cup butter. Add chives and mix until smooth and incorporated. Set aside.
  • 3. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Cut the 3 tablespoons of butter into the flour mixture with pastry knife until the butter crumbles. Mix the scallions, cheddar and Parmesan into the flour mixture. Pour the buttermilk into the bowl and stir just until combined. Drop by large rounded spoonful's on to the cookie sheet (approximately 1/4 cup). Brush tops with egg wash. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with chive butter.

1/4 cup butter, softened
6 tablespoons butter, cold
3 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg, lightly beaten

Steps:

  • Beat softened butter (1/4 cup), chives, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl until well-combined and smooth.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Cut cold butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles oatmeal. Add Cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese; toss to coat.
  • Stir buttermilk into flour mixture until dough is just-moistened.
  • Turn dough out onto a floured work surface and gently knead until dough comes together, about 6 to 8 times.
  • Roll dough into a 9-inch square (1/2 inch thick) with a floured rolling pin. Cut dough lengthwise into 4 strips and crosswise into 6 strips. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and brush tops with beaten egg.
  • Bake biscuits in the preheated oven until golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a rack and cool until warm, at least 15 minutes.
  • Serve biscuits with chive butter.
  • Note: You can substitute hot sauce for the cayenne pepper, if desired.
  • Note: Chive butter can be made 2 days ahead and kept chilled, covered. Bring to room temperature before using.
