My sister-in-law gave me the recipe for these hearty beans that make an appearance at all of our family functions. The ingredients slowly cook to perfection for a mouthwatering sweet-and-smoky flavor. Everyone will be going back for seconds!

1 pound ground beef
2 cans (16 ounces each) baked beans
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (15 ounces) cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, drained
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 pound bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a 4-qt. slow cooker. Add the beans, pineapple, onion, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar and mustard., Cover and cook on low until heated through, 6-8 hours. Just before serving, stir in bacon.

1 lb ground beef
1 lb bacon, cut into 4 inch pieces
1 large onion, chopped
2 stalk(s) celery,finely chopped
30 oz canned pork and beans, do not drain
15 - 20 oz butter beans, drained (or lima beans, drained)
15 oz kidney beans - drained
3 Tbsp mustard
4 - 5 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp molasses
3/4 c ketchup

Steps:

  • 1. Coat inside of slow cooker with non stick cooking spray. Add cut up bacon, hamburger, chopped onion, and celery to a large skillet. Cook hamburger mixture until ground beef is browned and onions are soft. ( drain ) Add remaining ingredients to skillet and stir until well combined. Pour mixture into slow cooker and cook on high 1 hour. Reduce heat to low and continue cooking 3 to 4 more hours. Turn to warm until ready to serve. Every slow cooker temperature varies. Check your dish after 3 hours and adjust cooking time accordingly.
