SOUTHERN SWEET CORNBREAD



Southern Sweet Cornbread image

A delicious moist and sweet southern cornbread that is perfect with any side. It's one bowl and easy to make!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder (Use aluminum free )
3 eggs
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sour cream
8 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Melt 7 tablespoons of butter. Once the oven has heated up, put the remaining 1 tablespoon of unmelted butter into a skillet and place it into the oven.
  • Add all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix until combined then make a well in the center of the bowl.
  • Pour all the ingredients except the melted butter and vegetable oil into the well. With a whisk, whisk until smooth and combined.
  • Pour the melted butter and vegetable oil into bowl. Mix well until the butter is mixed into the batter.
  • Carefully take the hot skillet out the oven and quickly pour the batter into the skillet. Place the skillet back into the oven. Bake for 25-30 minute or until done. Sharing is caring, so please share this recipe, so other people can enjoy it!

1 cup cornmeal
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 ⅓ cups white sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
⅔ cup vegetable oil
⅓ cup melted butter
2 tablespoons honey
4 eggs, beaten
2 ½ cups whole milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Stir together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Pour in the vegetable oil, melted butter, honey, beaten eggs, and milk, and stir just to moisten.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, until the top of the cornbread starts to brown and show cracks.

1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 1/4 cups yellow, white or blue cornmeal
1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 400°F. Spray the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan or 9-inch round cake pan with the cooking spray.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, heat the butter over low heat until melted.
  • In a large bowl, beat the melted butter, milk and egg with a fork or wire whisk until well mixed. Add the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt all at once; stir just until the flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy). Pour batter into the pan; use a rubber spatula to scrape batter from bowl. Spread batter evenly in pan and smooth top of batter.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm.

CAKEY CORN BREAD



Cakey Corn Bread image

I had a wonderful corn bread in a resturant in SC that was sweet and tasted like a cross between cake and corn bread. I decided to try and make one like it. This is very close to it.

1 box yellow cake mix
2 box jiffy corn muffin mix
1 c milk
1 c sour cream
4 eggs, beaten

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375. Spray 9x13 pan with Baker's Choice Spray or a spray oil and flour.
  • 2. Combine the corn muffin mixes and cake mix in large bowl. If you like more of a taste of the corn meal you could add another box of muffin mix and 1/3 cup of milk extra.
  • 3. Add milk, eggs, and sour cream.
  • 4. Pour in pan and bake for 30-35 mins. or until tester comes out clean.
