- Steam or boil broccoli until tender, about 8 minutes and drain.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium low heat and add garlic.
- Remove from heat and let steep for about 5 minutes.
- Remove garlic, if desired, then stir in almonds and place over low heat again.
- Add lemon juice and zest and pour over hot broccoli.

Steps:
- 1. Steam or boil broccoli until tender, approximately 4 to 8 minutes. Drain.
- 2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium low heat. Stir in almonds, if desired. I do this because I think they taste better toasted.
- 3. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest and almonds.
- 4. Pour over hot broccoli, add some almonds as garnish and serve.

- Melt butter, syrup, and lemon juice together. Steam broccoli stems in large pot set over medium heat for 3 minutes.
- Add florets and steam until stems and florets are crisp-tender (about 5 minutes longer). Drain broccoli and pour melted butter mixture over them.
- Top with toasted almonds.

- Steam broccoli until crisp-tender. (When using frozen broccoli, just put the broccoli in a bowl with about 2 T. water. Cover and microwave for about 5 minutes.) Drain and set aside.

- Place broccoli florets in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir 2 teaspoons lemon juice into water in a small bowl and pour the mixture into the skillet. Cover and steam until broccoli is bright green and tender, 10 to 15 minutes.
- While broccoli is steaming, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat and stir in garlic and salt; turn heat to low and let the garlic gently fry until golden brown, about 8 minutes. - Whilst broccoli is still hot from blanching,heat the butter and extra virgin olive oil in a pan until a light brown colour.(Using olive oil inhibits the burning of butter).
- Add roasted almond flakes and toss.
- Place blanched broccoli in pan.
- Pour over with juice of the lemon, and use seasonings to taste.
- Serve.
