1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chocolate syrup
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
FROSTING:
1-1/2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. beat in eggs and salt. Stir in chocolate syrup, flour and nuts. , Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes. , For frosting, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, butter and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Boil for 1 minute; remove from the heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted. Beat until spreading consistency, about 3 minutes. Add pecans, frost warm brownies.

This wonderful, rich brownie recipe comes from my late sister Pat. She was always collecting delicious recipes and this is one of the best! Nut lovers will love it!

1 cup margarine
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups pecans
1/2 cup margarine
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons buttermilk
1 lb confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups pecans

Steps:

  • TO MAKE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  • Melt margarine, cocoa and water. Bring to a hard, rapid boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and pecans. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or tuntil a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • TO MAKE FROSTING: Bring to a boil butter, cocoa and buttermilk. Add and beat confectioners sugar, vanilla extract and pecans. Spread on top of the warm brownies in pan. Cool in refrigerator.
