The Kentucky Derby meets Cinco de Mayo in this refreshing blackberry-mint julep margarita cocktail. Garnish each drink with a blackberry and a sprig of mint, if desired.

Steps:
- Muddle blackberries and mint in a shaker. Add bourbon, tequila, lime juice, and agave nectar.
- Fill shaker with ice. Shake and strain into two julep glasses filled with fresh ice.

BLACKBERRY-MINT JULEP
Like the original, our julep features bourbon infused with mint. But this easy drink's signature sweetness is tempered by the tartness of blackberries, which also tint it a gorgeous shade of purple. Another twist: Our cocktail is blended with-rather than served over-ice, creating a slushy texture.

Steps:
- Roughly chop mint leaves.
- Puree the mint, blackberries, and sugar in a blender. Press through a fine sieve into a bowl; discard seeds.
- Rinse blender, then return puree to blender, and add bourbon and small ice cubes; blend until smooth. Divide mixture among 4 glasses. Garnish each with a mint sprig.

From Blackbird in New York (now closed). I substitute my Blackberry Liqueur (Recipe #91061) for the Marie Brizard. Cooking time is actually time to marinate the berries.

Steps:
- Marinate berries in brandy through sugar 3 hours.
- Combine blackberry liqueur through water in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
- Strain into a highball glass ¾ filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with 1 heaping Tbs marinated mixed berries and serve with a straw.
- Use leftover berries to make more drinks or serve over ice cream, pudding, pound cake, etc.
