1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided
1 tube (6 ounces) refrigerated flaky buttermilk biscuits
1 teaspoon butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the water, tomato sauce, tomato paste and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. , Remove from the heat; stir in vegetables and 1/4 cup cheese. Transfer to a 1-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray (dish will be full). , Separate each biscuit horizontally in half; arrange around edge of dish. Brush with butter; sprinkle with oregano. Sprinkle remaining cheese over beef filling. , Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 18-22 minutes or until heated through and biscuits are golden brown.

3/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

1 cup cubed Velveeta

3/4 cup Kraft barbecue sauce or your favorite thick barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1 can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (10 biscuits total)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 375 F.
  • In a skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat, brown the ground beef; drain well. Stir in pork and beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and minced onion; heat until bubbly.
  • Pour the beef and bean mixture into a 2- to 2 1/2-quart casserole.

2 lb ground beef
1/4 tsp each: salt, black pepper,ground red pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 large onion (minced)
1/2 c bar-b- que sauce
1 can(s) (16 oz) black beans
1 can(s) (16 oz) butter beans
3 can(s) (16 oz) baked beans
1/3 c brown sugar
2 can(s) refrigerated biscuits
OPTIONAL
shredded or sliced cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Brown the ground beef well in a large skillet over medium - high heat, add the minced onion and cook until onions are done (do not burn!)
  • 2. Add all remaining ingredients except the biscuits. Stir and heat well. *** Do Not Drain the beans!!!
  • 3. Pour this mixture into a large roast pan or baking pan.
  • 4. Open up the biscuits and put them on top of the bean and meat mixture. Brush (or spread) the tops of the biscuits with butter.
  • 5. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 - 30 minutes... or until biscuits are cooked through and golden brown.
  • 6. *** Sometimes we cover the bean and meat mixture with shredded cheddar cheese or sliced American cheese before adding the biscuits.

BEEFY BBQ BEANS WITH BISCUITS

This recipe came from a church friend who makes this for potluck dinners. Both kids and adults like this a lot and it always disappears.

1 lb lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can(s) (28 ounces) baked beans, undrained
1/2 c bbq sauce
1/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 c catsup
salt and pepper to taste
1 can(s) refrigerated biscuits, (6 biscuits)
1 c shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Brown beef, garlic, and onion is a skillet until all pink is gone and onions are tender. Drain. Add beans, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, catsup, and salt and pepper. Simmer for 5-6 minutes or until hot through-out.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour meat mixture into a 7 by 11 inch casserole. Separate biscuits and slice them in half, making 2 thinner circles of each biscuit. Place biscuits on top of meat mixture. Bake for 18 minutes. Remove from oven and top biscuits with cheese. Return to oven for 3-5 minutes or until cheese has melted. Serve immediately.

1 cooking spray
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
1 pound ground beef
4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 cups beef broth
1 ½ teaspoons garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup buttermilk
3 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick® Heart Smart Pancake and Baking Mix)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a glass baking dish (such as Pyrex®) with cooking spray.
  • Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add carrots, onions, and celery and saute until onions are translucent, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • At the same time, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
  • Move beef to one side of the skillet and melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour a little at a time until combined; whisk in milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Stir in beef broth. ½ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green chile pepper
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough
1 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
½ cup sour cream
1 egg, lightly beaten

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, onion and green chile pepper; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, chili powder ,and garlic salt. Simmer while preparing the biscuits.
  • Separate biscuit dough into 10 biscuits. Pull each biscuit into 2 layers. Press 10 biscuit halves on the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish to form bottom crust. Reserve the other 10 biscuit halves for the top layer.
  • Remove meat mixture from heat, and stir in 1/2 cup shredded cheese, sour cream, and egg; mix well. Spoon over bottom crust. Arrange remaining biscuit halves to form top crust, and spoon remaining cheese evenly over the top.

Every once in a while I crave pork and beans and when I do I love to make this recipe. It has a slightly sweet filling and is topped with flaky biscuits and cheese for a nice flavor contrast making it almost like a pie.

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 (12 ounce) package Hungry Jack big flaky refrigerated biscuits
1 cup American cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef; drain fat.
  • Heat pork and beans in a medium saucepan. Add brown sugar and ketchup. (Start off with 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar and 1/2 tablespoon ketchup, gradually adding more until it suits your taste. I like mine a little on the sweet side.)
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees (the oven tempurature may vary depending on the brand of biscuits you use).
  • Combine ground beef and pork and beans in a 2 1/2 quart casserole.
  • Place biscuits on a baking sheet, baking them 4 minutes (just long enough so that the bottoms of the biscuits start to cook).
  • Place the slightly baked biscuits on top of the pork and bean mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

1 lb ground beef
1 c chopped celery
1/4 c chopped green pepper
16 oz can of pork & beans (or your choice of beans)
1/2 c barbecue sauce (your choice of flavor)
1/2 c grape jelly
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 c chopped onion or 2 tbsp. instant minced onion
1 Tbsp chopped pimento
1 can(s) (8oz.)refrigerated buttermilk or country style biscuits

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350^. In large fry pan, brown ground beef, celery & green pepper; drain fat. Stir in beans, bbq sauce, grape jelly & salt. Simmer while preparing biscuits.
  • 2. Cook onion in butter, stir in pimiento. Separate biscuit dough into 10 biscuits. Press biscuits together to form a 7x9 rectanle; spread onion-pimiento mixture over dough. Starting at longer side, roll up rectangle, pressing edges to seal. Cut roll into nine 1" slices.
  • 3. Spoon hot meat mixture into ungreased 8 or 9 inch square baking dish. Top with biscuit pinwheel. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
