Italian Pasta and Beef Bake image

Have dinner on the table in less than an hour. With mostaccioli, mushrooms and mozzarella, it's marvelous!

6 oz. (1 1/2 cups) uncooked mostaccioli or penne (tube-shaped pasta)
1/2 lb. lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 (15-oz.) can Italian-style tomato sauce
1 (14.5-oz.) can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano, undrained
1 (4.5-oz.) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
2 oz. (1/2 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Cook mostaccioli as directed on package. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, in 12-inch nonstick skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes and mushrooms. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat; pour into sprayed baking dish.
  • Add cooked mostaccioli; stir gently to mix. Spray sheet of foil with cooking spray; place sprayed side down on baking dish and seal tightly.
  • Bake at 350°F. for 15 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered an additional 5 to 10 minutes or until casserole is bubbly and cheese is melted.

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 jar (26 ounces) tomato pasta sauce (any variety)
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1 1/2 cups milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches, with cooking spray. Cook beef in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir in pasta sauce.
  • Mix cream cheese, sour cream, 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese and 1/4 teaspoon of the Italian seasoning in small bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Spoon half of the beef mixture (about 2 cups) into baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture evenly onto beef mixture. Spoon remaining beef mixture over cream cheese mixture.
  • Stir 1 cup of the Parmesan cheese, the Bisquick mix and milk in medium bowl until blended. Pour over beef mixture.
  • Bake uncovered 30 to 35 minutes or until light golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese and 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Bake 5 minutes longer. Let stand at least 10 minutes before cutting.

2 cups water
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (2.25 oz) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 cups uncooked instant white rice
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)

Steps:

  • In 12-inch skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat until almost crisp. Add beef, onion, bell pepper, garlic and salt; cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  • Stir in water, tomatoes, olives and Italian seasoning; heat to boiling. Stir in rice. Reduce heat to medium; cover and simmer about 5 minutes or until rice is tender.
  • Sprinkle with cheese; cover and let stand until melted.

8 ounces uncooked spaghetti, broken into thirds
1 large egg
1/2 cup fat-free milk
1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/2 pound Italian turkey sausage links, casings removed
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 jar (14 ounces) meatless spaghetti sauce
1 can (8 ounces) no-salt-added tomato sauce
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drain. In a large bowl, beat egg and milk. Add spaghetti; toss to coat. Transfer to a 13x9-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray., In a large skillet, cook the beef, sausage, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. 1 1/2 lbs ground chuck
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (32 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Cook ground chuck , onion and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until meat is browned, stirring to crumble meat; drain. Add spaghetti sauce, water, basil, oregano, and pepper, stir well.
  • Spoon 1/3 of meat mixture into a lightly greased 13 x 9 x2 inch baking dish. Top with half of potato slices; cover with 1/3 of meat mixture. Add remaining potato slices and remaining meat mixture. Cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake at 375°F for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. Remove foil; sprinkle cheese over casserole. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.

2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
1 bone-in beef chuck roast (3 to 3 1/2 lb)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
8 medium potatoes, cut in half (4 cups)
4 carrots, cut into 4 pieces
3 stalks celery, cut into 4 pieces
1 medium onion, quartered
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 jar (26 oz) tomato basil pasta sauce
1/2 cup cold water
1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over high heat. Sprinkle beef roast with salt and pepper; place in skillet. Cook about 6 minutes or until beef is browned on both sides.
  • Place beef in large shallow roasting pan. Arrange potatoes, carrots, celery and onion around beef. Sprinkle garlic over beef and vegetables. Pour pasta sauce over top.
  • Cover pan with foil; roast 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes or until beef and vegetables are tender.
  • Remove beef from pan; place on serving platter. Cut beef across grain into slices; arrange vegetables over top. Cover with foil to keep warm.
  • Skim excess fat from drippings in pan. Place 2 cups pan drippings in 1-quart saucepan (if necessary, add water to equal 2 cups). In tightly covered container, shake cold water and flour until smooth. With saucepan over medium-high heat, gradually stir flour mixture into drippings. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve gravy with beef and vegetables.
