A HOMEMADE SAN FRANCISCO TREAT: CHICKEN VERMICELLI RICE
Years ago, I came up with my clone of a dish my children really enjoyed. I wanted to use the freshest ingredients that I usually have on hand. Many years later, I find myself still making it. If serving a beef dish, substitute chicken bouillon with beef bouillon. Angel hair pasta can be broken into small pieces in place of vermicelli.

- Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook rice and vermicelli in hot butter until browned, about 3 minutes.
- Pour water over the rice mixture. Stir chicken bouillon, parsley, garlic powder, and onion powder into the water; bring to a boil, place a cover on the saucepan, reduce heat to low, and cook until the water has absorbed into the rice and pasta, about 25 minutes.

Saute vermicelli and Rice with Butter or Margarine, once the vermicelli and the Rice have browend, then add water,and your choice of flavored Bouillon to the pan. 2.Reduce heat to med - low; cover. and Simmer 5 to 10 minutes.or Till all the liquid is absorbed. 3.Once Rice has absorbed all the liquid, give it a stir. Cover again, for 10 minutes or till rice is compleatly cooked.
BEEF FLAVORED RICE
My family loves this side with beef and gravy recipes. We like to shred beef and place it on this rice and then top with gravy. You can also use this using chicken bouillon.

- Place the bouillon in the water and add rice. I like using the better then bouillon but haved used bouillon cubes also. You can also use white rice if you prefer.
- I like making this in the microwave but you can also cook it on the stove top.
- In the microwave I cook on high for about 17 minutes.
- Microwaves vary so keep on eye on the rice.
- Fluff rice and serve.

Steps:
- 1. Break vermicelli into small pieces. Melt butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Stir in rice and vermicelli; cook, stirring frequently, until vermicelli is lightly browned.
- 2. Add chicken broth and spices, except for parsley. Bring to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and cover pan. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until rice is just a bit soupy.
- 3. Remove from heat, cover and let sit for about 5 minutes. If it gets too dry, just add some water or more broth. Stir in parsley and serve.
- 4. Enjoy!
