Looking for a twist on standard party mix? My family enjoys this barbecue-seasoned snack at Christmas and throughout the year. It also makes a nice addition to a holiday gift basket. --Mrs. Dean Holmes, Altamont, Kansas

4 cups Corn Chex® cereal
4 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
2 cups square-shaped cheese flavored crackers
2 cups pretzel sticks
2 cups mixed nuts or dry roasted peanuts
½ cup butter or margarine
4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

Steps:

  • In a large roasting pan, combine the cereals, crackers, pretzels and nuts; set aside. In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt until blended. Pour over cereal mixture and stir to coat.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 250 degrees F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper to cool completely. Store in airtight containers.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup Cheerios toasted oat cereal
1 cup spoon-size shredded wheat
1 cup Corn Chex or 1 cup corn bran
1 cup pretzel
1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon soft butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (to taste)
1/2 cup corn kernels or 1/2 cup corn, nuggets
1 cup low-fat sesame sticks

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F
  • Combine cereals, pretzels, nuts and seeds in a large bowl.
  • Melt butter; mix butter, Worcestershire, chili powder, oregano, paprika and Tabasco in a small bowl.
  • Pour sauce over cereal mixture and toss until well-mixed.
  • Spread on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes until toasted, stirring twice.
  • Let cool.
  • Toss with corn kernels and sesame sticks.
  • Store in resealable plastic bags.
  • Makes 7 cups.
