½ cup butter
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
1 egg
¾ cup apple butter
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon apple pie spice
1 cup raisins
1 cup confectioners' sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
  • Beat butter or margarine until creamy. Add half of the flour, the brown sugar, white sugar, egg, apple butter, baking soda and the apple pie spice. Beat together until well blended. Beat in remaining flour and stir in raisins. Spread in prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or till toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Drizzle with icing. Cut into bars.
  • To Make Icing: Mix 1 cup confectioners' sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1 - 2 tablespoons milk. Mix to drizzling consistency.

1 box Betty Crocker™ Gluten Free yellow cake mix
1/2 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla
1/2 cup cold butter
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/2 cup gluten-free oats
2 tablespoons butter, melted, cooled
1 cup gluten-free apple butter

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. In medium bowl, combine cake mix and vanilla. Cut in 1/2 cup butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through mixture in opposite directions), until mixture is crumbly. Reserve 1 cup mixture for topping. In bottom of ungreased 8-inch square pan, press remaining crumb mixture. Bake 15 minutes. Meanwhile, stir walnuts, oats and melted butter into reserved crumb mixture.
  • Spread apple butter evenly over partially baked crust to within 1 inch of edge. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture, pressing gently into apple butter.
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until center is set. Cool in pan on cooling rack 1 hour. Sprinkle with additional chopped walnuts, if desired. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

1 3/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 1/2 c quick cooking oatmeal
1 c brown sugar
1 c butter, melted
1 c apple butter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 13 X 9 inch pan.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  • 3. Press 1/2 of the crumb mixture into bottom of prepared baking pan; spread evenly with apple butter. Top with remaining crumb mixture; press lightly.
  • 4. Bake 30 minutes until light brown. Remove from oven; cool and then cut into bars.

This is one really easy dessert. Your friends are guaranteed to eat these up. These make a great dessert, but could be really nice with a cup of tea at breakfast. We used apple butter, but I bet raspberry jam would be wonderful in these too.

1 tsp salt
2 1/2 c uncooked quick oats
1 1/2 c sugar
1 c butter/margarine, melted
1 1/2 c apple butter (or other jam/jelly/preserves/etc)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. In large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt Add the oats and the sugar. Stir in the melted butter and mix well. Press half of the mixture into a greased 13x9x2 inch pan. Top with apple butter.
  • 3. Sprinkle rest of the crumb mixture on top; press gently with a spoon. Bake at 350 degrees 55 minutes or till lightly brown. Cool and cut into bars.
