2 cups milk
1 cup water
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup raisins

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients except raisins in greased casserole dish.
  • Bake 300°F for ONE hour.
  • Reduce heat to 250°F for ONE and ONE HALF hours.
  • Add raisins half hour before done.

My sisters and I always loved the recipe for rice pudding our grandma made. After she passed away, I took it upon myself to try and find the secret to her rice pudding. 1-1/2 cups cooked rice
1/4 cup raisins
2 large eggs
1-1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Additional milk, optional

Steps:

  • Place rice and raisins in a greased 1-qt. casserole. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar and nutmeg; pour over rice. , Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool. Pour milk over each serving if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.

2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup long grain rice (Uncle Ben's)
1/2 cup raisins, plump (soaked in hot water for 5 minutes)
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
ground nutmeg
ground cinnamon
light cream or heavy milk

Steps:

  • In a heavy medium sized saucepan, bring 2 cups milk, uncooked rice, and raisins to a boil; reduce heat. Cover and cook over very low heat, about 15 minutes or until rice is tender. Remove from heat; stir in butter or margarine till melted.
  • In a mixing bowl stir together the eggs, 2 cups milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Gradually, stir in the rice mixture into egg mixture. Pour into a 10x6x2' pan or baking dish. Bake in a 325*- for 30 minutes. Stir well; sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon. Bake for 15-20 minutes more or until knife in center comes out clean.
  • Serve warm or chilled with cream.

2 large eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups scalded milk
1 1/4 cups cooked and cooled long grain rice (leftover is perfect, but do not use instant rice, If using short grain rice, use only 1 cup)
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 dash cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine eggs, sugar and salt.
  • Gradually whisk hot scalded milk into egg mixture.

2 1/2 cups milk
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

250 ml evaporated milk
1 -2 tablespoon butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Steps:

  • Boil rice until done.
  • Place cooked rice in a baking dish.
  • Add milk, water, butter, (add as much as you like I do 2 tbsp ) sugar.
  • Stir all of it together and bake until done about 1 hr at 350 degrees.
  • The water measurement is done with the can from the milk so 1 cup is a guess.
