The Origin of Chimichurri
Before diving into Argentine chimichurri bread recipes, it’s important to know where this popular condiment originated. Chimichurri is a sauce that is commonly used in Argentine and Uruguayan cuisine. While the exact origin is unclear, it is believed to have been brought to South America by European immigrants. Over time, the sauce has evolved into a much-loved condiment that is now widely used in many countries around the world. What is Chimichurri?
Chimichurri is typically made with a blend of fresh herbs, such as oregano, parsley, and cilantro. Garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and chili flakes are also commonly used in the recipe. The result is a flavor-packed sauce that has a tangy, spicy, and herbaceous taste. It is usually served alongside grilled meats or used as a marinade. However, Argentine chimichurri bread takes this popular condiment to a whole new level.Argentine Chimichurri Bread Recipes
Argentine chimichurri bread recipes typically involve a few simple steps. The bread is first baked until it is almost fully cooked. The chimichurri sauce is then spread on top of the bread, and it is returned to the oven until the sauce is heated through and the bread is fully cooked. The result is a mouthwatering loaf of bread that is infused with the flavors of the chimichurri sauce.Ingredients
To make Argentine chimichurri bread, you will need the following ingredients:- 1 loaf of crusty bread
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup of finely chopped parsley
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Cut your bread into slices, but do not cut all the way through the loaf. Leave some space at the bottom so the bread stays in one piece.
- In a bowl, mix the olive oil, red wine vinegar, parsley, garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper together.
- Brush the mixture generously on top of the bread slices.
- Wrap the bread in foil and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the bread is fully cooked and the chimichurri sauce is heated through.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
