Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
2 ready-made pie crusts
1 cup all-purpose flour (plus some extra for dusting the work surface)
3 tablespoons agave syrup
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon (plus more for sprinkling on top)
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Four 29-ounce cans sliced peaches (drained)
Kosher salt
1 orange
2 eggs (whisked)
vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan with 1/2 stick (4 tbs) of the butter. Set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crusts until they are large enough to cover the baking pan surface.
  • In a large skillet, melt the remaining 1/2 stick (4 tbs) butter over medium heat. Mix in agave syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and peaches. Add in 2 pinches of salt and mix well. Once the mixture begins to simmer, reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for 10 minutes. Remove mixture from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Pour half of the peach mixture into the prepared baking pan in an even layer. Grate half of the orange zest on top of the peaches. Place the first sheet of pie crust on top. Bake for 15 minutes or until light brown.
  • Take the cobbler out of the oven. Pour the remaining half of the peach mixture on top and grate the remaining orange zest on top of the peaches. Place the second pie crust on top, brush with a thin layer of egg wash and sprinkle cinnamon.
  • With a fork, poke holes on the top layer. This will help it cook evenly and allow steam to escape. Bake for 40 minutes or until the peach juices start to bubble and the top crust is golden brown.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

THE BEST PEACH COBBLER

The Best Peach Cobbler image

In our classic southern-style peach cobbler, we layer the fruit on top of the batter before baking. In the oven, the sweet batter rises through the peaches, creating a light and airy cake-like topping. We left the peaches unpeeled, which adds a nice color and makes the recipe even easier. Serve it with vanilla ice cream for the perfect summer dessert.

5 small peaches, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices (about 5 cups)

3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk, at room temperature

History of Peach Cobbler

Peach cobbler originated in the United States in the 19th century. The dessert was a popular dish among the settlers of the Southern states. The recipe was simple, using only a few ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, and butter. The peaches were cooked down and sweetened with sugar, and then the mixture was poured over the crust and topped with a crumbly mixture made from flour, sugar, and butter.
Ingredients
The ingredients needed to make April's peach cobbler recipe include: - Fresh peaches - Flour - Sugar - Butter - Baking powder - Salt - Cinnamon - Nutmeg - Milk - Vanilla extract
Preparation
To prepare the peaches, they will need to be peeled, pitted, and sliced. The peaches should be ripe but not overripe. Next, the crust needs to be prepared. The flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon are mixed together in a bowl. Then, the butter is cut into small pieces and added to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or fork, the butter is blended into the flour mixture until it forms a crumbly texture. In a separate bowl, the milk and vanilla extract are mixed together. The wet mixture is then added to the dry mixture and stirred until a dough forms. The dough is rolled out onto a floured surface and then placed into a greased baking dish. The sliced peaches are then placed on top of the dough. A crumbly topping is made by mixing flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter together. This mixture is sprinkled on top of the peaches. The cobbler is then baked in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

April's Peach Cobbler Recipe - Valuable Tips Peach cobbler is a classic American dessert that is always a crowd-pleaser. With its sweet, juicy peaches and cinnamon-spiced crust, it's hard not to love this dish. If you're looking to make the perfect peach cobbler, consider trying April's Peach Cobbler Recipe. Here are some valuable tips to help you make it even better: 1. Choose the Right Peaches The key to a great peach cobbler is to choose the right peaches. Look for peaches that are ripe, yet firm. They should have a sweet, floral scent and a golden-orange hue. Avoid peaches that are mushy or overly soft, as they will not hold up well in the cobbler. If possible, buy locally grown peaches or peaches that are in season. 2. Peel the Peaches To ensure that your peach cobbler has a smooth, even texture, it's important to peel the peaches. This will remove any tough skin or fuzz that can be unpleasant to eat. To peel the peaches, bring a pot of water to a boil and then drop the peaches in for 30 seconds. Remove them with a slotted spoon and then plunge them into a bowl of ice water. The skins should easily slip off when you pull them. 3. Cut the Peaches Evenly When cutting the peaches, aim for uniform slices that are about 1/2-inch thick. This will ensure that they cook evenly and don't turn mushy. If you have a peach that is slightly overripe, consider cutting it into smaller pieces to avoid having it dominate the dish. 4. Add Flavor to the Peaches While fresh peaches are delicious on their own, adding some flavor to them can take your peach cobbler to the next level. Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg or vanilla extract to the sliced peaches. You can also add a splash of orange juice or lemon juice to brighten up the flavor. 5. Use the Right Flour The crust of a peach cobbler is an important part of the dish. It should be tender and flaky, yet sturdy enough to stand up to the juicy filling. To achieve this, it's important to use the right flour. All-purpose flour is a good choice, but you can also use bread flour or pastry flour for a more delicate crust. 6. Keep the Butter Cold When making the crust, it's important to keep the butter as cold as possible. This will help create a flaky texture in the dough. You can achieve this by using chilled butter and adding it to the flour mixture in small pieces. You can also chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling it out to ensure that the butter stays cold. 7. Add Some Texture to the Crust Adding some texture to the crust can take your peach cobbler to the next level. Consider adding a sprinkle of turbinado sugar or finely chopped nuts to the crust before baking. This will create a crunchy, caramelized topping that contrasts nicely with the soft fruit filling. 8. Don't Overfill the Pan When assembling the peach cobbler, it's important not to overfill the pan. If you add too much filling, the crust may not cook evenly and the juices may spill over. As a general rule, aim to fill the pan no more than two-thirds full. This will allow for some expansion during baking. 9. Bake at the Right Temperature To ensure that your peach cobbler is cooked to perfection, make sure to bake it at the right temperature. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and then bake the cobbler for 40-45 minutes. The crust should be golden brown and the filling should be bubbling and juicy. 10. Let it Rest Once your peach cobbler is out of the oven, resist the urge to dig in right away. Give it at least 10-15 minutes to rest before serving. This will allow the juices to settle and the crust to firm up. It will also make it easier to cut and serve. In conclusion, these valuable tips will help you create the perfect peach cobbler using April's Peach Cobbler Recipe. With its sweet, juicy peaches and flaky, buttery crust, it's sure to be a hit with family and friends alike. Whether served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or chilled for breakfast the next day, this dish is sure to become a favorite in your recipe collection.
