PEANUT BUTTER APPLE CRISP
This is a quick and easy but so-good dessert for any time of year. My mother made it, and it brings back fond memories of growing up in Vermont, where some of the best apples can be found in the Heroes. Serve with whipped cream or milk.

BAKED APPLE SLICES WITH PEANUT BUTTER CRUMBLE
Here is another recipe that was featured in an email from the www.hersheys.com website. One reviewer said the following: "We really liked this one - even the child who doesn't care for peanut butter! The mix of flavors and textures was interesting and made a great finish to a zippy meal. Next time I'll add some more cinnamon though as the peanut butter overwhelmed it." I may take that into consideration when I get around to trying this! :-)

Apples and Peanut Butter: A Match Made in Heaven
When it comes to sweet and savory snacks, few combinations are as beloved as apples and peanut butter. This classic duo has been a go-to for generations of snackers, and for good reason: it's delicious, satisfying, and packs a healthy punch.
The Benefits of Apples and Peanut Butter
Let's start with the star of the show: apples. These fruits are low in calories but high in fiber, which makes them the perfect snack for people watching their weight. Apples are also loaded with vitamin C, which supports a healthy immune system, and antioxidants that may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.
Now, let's talk about the peanut butter. While it's true that peanut butter is high in fat, it's also high in protein, which means it can help keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer. Additionally, peanut butter is an excellent source of healthy fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which may help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
The Best Types of Apples for Peanut Butter
While any type of apple will taste great with peanut butter, some varieties are better than others. Here are a few options to consider:
- Gala: These sweet, crisp apples are a great choice if you like your peanut butter snack to be on the sweeter side.
- Honeycrisp: If you're looking for a crunchier texture, try pairing your peanut butter with a honeycrisp apple. These apples are known for their satisfying crunch.
- Granny Smith: If you prefer a tart flavor, go with a Granny Smith apple. The acidic taste pairs well with the rich, creamy flavor of peanut butter.
Creative Ways to Eat Apples and Peanut Butter
If you're in a rut with your apple and peanut butter routine, try mixing it up with these creative ideas:
- Apple and PB Sandwich: Spread peanut butter between two apple slices for a sandwich-style snack.
- Yogurt Dip: Mix peanut butter with Greek yogurt for a protein-packed dip for apple slices.
- Smoothie: Blend apples, peanut butter, and milk (or a non-dairy alternative) for a tasty smoothie.
- Apple Nachos: Slice apples and arrange them on a plate like nachos. Drizzle with melted peanut butter and sprinkle with your favorite toppings, like granola or chocolate chips.
Conclusion
Apples and peanut butter may be a classic snack, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring. With a little creativity, you can enjoy this delicious and nutritious combo in a variety of ways. So next time you're looking for a healthy and satisfying snack, grab an apple and some peanut butter and enjoy!
