Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 8

4-6 1" thick boneless pork loin chops (if using thinner ones lessen baking time 5-10 minutes depending on thickness)
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
seasoning salt and pepper to taste
1 box stovetop pork or chicken stuffing mix
1 rounded tablespoon apple pie filling, finely chop apples
2 rounded tablespoons shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 (21 oz.) can(s) apple pie filling with cinnamon, add a little cinnamon if it doesn't have any or needs more
more coarse ground pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Make stuffing according to pkg. directions, fold in 1 Tbl. apple pie filling and cheddar, set aside. Pour rest of apple pie filling onto bottom of 13x9 pan (greased.) Sprinkle with a little cinnamon if needed. In hot skillet, lightly brown pork chops (seasoned with seasoning salt and pepper) on both sides. Place pork chops on top of apples. Top each with a mound of stuffing. (I pack it a little to make it look nice, making a tall mound of it.) Sprinkle lightly with a little coarse ground pepper. Cover and bake at 350• for 40-45 minutes. Uncover and bake 5-10 minutes longer. (*Porkchops ARE done when just barely light pink in center and juices run clear.) **When serving, make sure you scoop with a large spatula, getting underneath the chop to get all the pie filling underneath.

The apple is a natural sweetener that complements the savory taste of pork chops. Therefore, introducing apple in pork chops recipes produces a unique and flavorful meal that is simple to make. In this article, we will provide valuable tips to consider when making apple-topped chops recipes without necessarily outlining a recipe. Tip 1: Use Appropriate Apple variety: The kind of apple you use in your apple-topped chops recipes will significantly impact the taste and quality of your meal. It is, therefore, essential to know the right apple variety to use. Some apple types that are best for pork chop recipes are Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and Golden Delicious. Apples that are too sweet may overpower the flavor of the pork chops, while those that are too tart may produce a sour taste when combined with savory pork chops. Tip 2: Prepare the Pork Chops: Before using any apple topping, it is crucial to prepare the pork chops correctly. The following are tips that can be useful: a) Pat dry the pork chops using a paper towel before cooking them. This step ensures that the pork chops brown evenly. b) When seasoning the pork chops, use the appropriate spices that complement the apple topping, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, or thyme. c) Do not overcook the pork chops. The internal temperature of fully cooked pork chops should reach 145℉. Tip 3: Choose the Right Cooking Method: Cooking method can significantly impact the taste and texture of your apple-topped chops recipes. Some popular cooking methods that are perfect for this dish include: a) Baking: Baking is a popular cooking method for apple-topped chops recipes. Baking provides a crispy crust while retaining the tender and juicy texture of the pork chops. b) Grilling: Grilling pork chops is a perfect way to introduce a smoky flavor note to your meal. Grilling also provides a crispy crust, making the pork chop flavorful. c) Pan-frying: Pan-frying pork chops produces a crispy crust that enhances the natural flavor of pork. Using a non-stick skillet with a little oil will prevent the pork chops from sticking to the pan. Tip 4: Go Easy on the Sugar: While the natural sweetness of apples has a significant impact on the taste of your meal, it is essential to go easy on the sugar when creating apple topping. Some apples such as Gala or Fuji are quite sweet on their own, so using sugar when making apple topping is not always necessary. When making apple topping, use only a small amount of sugar, as too much sugar can overpower the natural flavor of the apples and produce an overly sweet meal. Tip 5: Consider Adding Acid: While the apple in apple-topped chops brings natural sweetness, adding acid to the recipe can make a big difference in the flavor profile of your meal. Adding acid in the form of vinegar or citrus juice will provide a balance to the sweetness of the apple topping. The acid also helps to tenderize the pork chops and add flavor. Balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or fresh lemon juice are the best options for adding acid. Tip 6: Experiment with Different Flavors: Apple topping is versatile and can be customized to suit individual tastes. Experiment with different spice blends or herbs to create unique flavors. Some perfect flavors that complement the apple topping include rosemary, sage, or thyme. Tip 7: Don't Overcook the Apples: When creating the apple topping, it is essential not to overcook the apples. Overcooking the apples will make them mushy and lose their natural taste. Cook the apples until they are soft but still hold their shape. Tip 8: Add Texture: Adding texture to your apple-topped chops recipe will enhance the overall eating experience. Consider adding toppings such as chopped nuts or toasted breadcrumbs to add crunchiness. Conclusion: Apple-topped chops are a simple and delicious way to create a flavorful meal. Following the above tips will significantly help you make the best apple-topped chops recipe. When making these recipes, it is crucial to consider the appropriate cooking method, the right apple variety, and the amount of sugar required to bring out the best flavor. Additionally, experimenting with different flavors and adding texture will make your apple-topped chops recipe more enjoyable. With these tips in mind, you can make an irresistible apple-topped chops recipe every time.
