Instructions:

Making an apple streusel slab pie is quite easy. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Make The Crust
To make the crust, mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add cold water to the mixture, one tablespoon at a time, until a ball forms. Divide the mixture into two and shape into flattened discs. Wrap each disc in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Step 2: Make The Filling
Peel and slice the apples into thin slices. Toss the apple slices in lemon juice to prevent them from browning. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add the mixture to the apples and mix well.
Step 3: Make The Streusel Topping
Mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
Step 4: Assemble The Pie
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Roll out one of the chilled dough discs on a floured surface to fit a 10x15 inch baking pan. Fit the rolled-out dough into the baking pan and let the edges overhang. Add the apple filling to the crust in the pan. Sprinkle the streusel topping over the apple filling. Roll out the second chilled dough disc and place on top of the streusel topping. Fold the overhanging dough from the bottom crust over the top crust and crimp the edges together. Cut slits in the top of the crust to allow steam to escape.
Step 5: Bake The Pie
Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Cool the pie on a wire rack for 30 minutes before serving.

Whether for a special occasion, a family gathering, or just because, an apple streusel slab pie is sure to delight your taste buds.
Apple Streusel Slab Pie is a delicious dessert that can be made easily at home. It is perfect for sharing with family and friends on any occasion. However, baking a perfect apple streusel slab pie requires some tips and tricks that can make all the difference in the taste and texture of the dessert.

Tip #1: Choose the Right Apples

The key to making a delicious apple streusel slab pie is the apple variety you choose. Not all apples are suitable for baking, and choosing the right type can make a big difference. The best apples for baking are firm and crisp, with a slightly tart taste that complements the sweetness of the pie filling. Granny Smith apples are a popular choice for apple pies, but you can also try Honeycrisp, Braeburn or Jonathan apples.

Tip #2: Preparing the Apples

Once you have chosen the right apples, it is important to prepare them correctly. Start by peeling and coring the apples, then slice them into thin, even pieces. To prevent oxidation, you can soak the sliced apples in a bowl of cold water with a little lemon juice added. This will also help to enhance the flavor of the apples.

Tip #3: Use the Right Pie Crust

The pie crust is what holds everything together in a pie, and it is important to choose the right type of crust for your apple streusel slab pie. A flaky, buttery pie crust works best for this recipe. You can make your own crust from scratch or use store-bought pie crusts. If you are making your own crust, make sure to chill it for at least an hour before rolling it out and placing it in the pan.

Tip #4: Streusel Topping

The streusel topping is what gives this pie its unique flavor and texture. It is a mixture of butter, sugar, flour, and spices that is sprinkled over the apple filling before baking. To make a perfect streusel topping, use cold butter and cut it into small pieces before mixing it with the sugar and flour. Use your fingers to mix the ingredients together until they resemble coarse crumbs, then sprinkle the mixture over the apple filling.

Tip #5: Baking the Pie

Baking time and temperature are crucial for making a perfect apple streusel slab pie. Preheat your oven to 375°F and place the pie on the middle rack. Bake the pie for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. To prevent the crust from getting too brown, you can cover the edges with foil or a pie shield.

Tip #6: Allowing the Pie to Cool

After the pie is done baking, it is important to let it cool down completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld together. You can cool the pie on a wire rack for 2-3 hours before serving. Serve the pie warm or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Tip #7: Storing Leftovers

If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat the pie, place it in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes or until it is heated through. You can also microwave individual slices for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Conclusion
Apple Streusel Slab Pie is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. By following these valuable tips, you can make a delicious and impressive pie that will be the centerpiece of your dessert table. Remember to choose the right apples, prepare them correctly, use the right pie crust, make a perfect streusel topping, bake the pie at the right temperature and time, allow it to cool down completely, and store leftovers properly. With these tips, you can make the perfect apple streusel slab pie every time.
