Who doesn't love waffles with a great crunch from cornmeal, sweet tasty vitamins from apples, wholesomeness from whole wheat flour and flax, and a nice offset from spices? Mmm, these sure are nice! The egg substitute is courtesy of Recipe #104832. It adds nutrients and eliminates bad fats. One thing worth noting, though, is be sure to grease your waffle iron well before making and in between waffles! Also, be careful to cut your apples very small or your waffle iron wont like it. These freeze BEAUTIFULLY!

These waffles are made with a blend of warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg, along with fresh apples to give them a sweet and fruity flavor. Here are some important things that one needs to know about apple spice waffles:

Ingredients

The first step to making great apple spice waffles is to gather all of your ingredients. You will need basic waffle ingredients such as flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, eggs, and oil to make the batter. Along with the basic ingredients, you will need:

  • 1 diced apple
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg

These spices and apple pieces will be blended into the waffle batter, giving it the distinctive apple spice flavor.

Preparation Method

Preparation for apple spice waffles is very similar to that of regular waffles. First, begin by preheating your waffle iron. While the waffle iron is heating, prepare the apple spice mixture. In a separate bowl, mix together the diced apple pieces, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg to create the apple spice blend.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Next, add the milk, eggs, and oil to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the apple spice mixture and mix until the batter is evenly blended.

Once the waffle iron is hot, brush it with oil or cooking spray to prevent the waffles from sticking. Pour the apple spice waffle batter onto the waffle iron and close the lid. Cook according to the instructions provided with your waffle iron, or until crispy and golden brown. Repeat until all of the batter has been used up.

Serving Suggestions

Apple spice waffles can be served in many different ways. Waffles are a popular breakfast dish across the world. And, when you add a touch of apple spice to these waffles, they become a delight for your taste buds. Apple spice waffles are perfect for fall mornings, as they contain warming spices like cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and ginger. If you are planning to make apple spice waffles recipes, there are tons of tips that you need to keep in mind to make your waffles delicious and fluffy. In this article, we’ve compiled a list of valuable tips that will help you make perfect apple spice waffles recipes. So, let’s get started! Tip 1: Use Buttermilk Buttermilk is an essential ingredient when it comes to making perfect waffles, especially apple spice waffles. Buttermilk is acidic and contains enzymes that help to break down the gluten in the flour, making the waffles soft and fluffy. The acidity in the buttermilk also reacts with baking soda, which helps the waffles rise. Using buttermilk in your apple spice waffles recipes will make a huge difference in the texture and flavor of your waffles. If you don’t have buttermilk, you can substitute it with milk and vinegar or lemon juice. Tip 2: Don’t Overmix the Batter Overmixing the batter is one of the most common mistakes people make when making waffles. Overmixing the batter will develop gluten, resulting in tough and dense waffles. Therefore, it is essential to mix the batter gently and only until the ingredients are combined. When making apple spice waffles, it is important not to overmix the batter as the spices can cause the gluten to develop even faster, resulting in tough and rubbery waffles. Tip 3: Preheat the Waffle Maker Preheating the waffle maker is crucial when making waffles. A cold waffle maker will not cook the waffles evenly and will result in a soggy mess. Therefore, make sure you preheat the waffle maker thoroughly before pouring the batter. When making apple spice waffles, it is essential to preheat the waffle maker to a slightly higher temperature as the spices in the batter can make the waffles stick to the waffle maker. Tip 4: Use Applesauce Applesauce is a great ingredient to use in apple spice waffles recipes. Using applesauce in your waffles will not only add a delicious apple flavor but will also make your waffles moist and fluffy. When using applesauce in your apple spice waffles, make sure to reduce the amount of oil or butter in the recipe as the applesauce will make the waffles moist. Tip 5: Use a Sifter Sifting the dry ingredients is an essential step when making waffles. Sifting the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and spices together will ensure that the ingredients are well combined and there are no lumps, resulting in a light and fluffy texture. When making apple spice waffles, it is important to sift the dry ingredients, especially the spices, as the spices tend to clump together. Tip 6: Let the Batter Rest Letting the batter rest is an essential step when making waffles. Letting the batter rest for a few minutes will allow the gluten to relax, resulting in tender and fluffy waffles. When making apple spice waffles, it is essential to let the batter rest for a few minutes after mixing in the dry ingredients. This will give the spices time to merge with the batter and enhance the flavor. Tip 7: Use a Ladle to Pour the Batter Using a ladle to pour the batter onto the waffle maker is an excellent way to ensure that you get evenly sized waffles. Using a ladle will also prevent the batter from overflowing and making a mess. When making apple spice waffles, it is important to use a ladle to pour the batter onto the waffle maker as the spices can make the batter thicker, resulting in unevenly sized waffles. Tip 8: Use Cooking Spray Using cooking spray on the waffle maker is an excellent way to prevent the waffles from sticking to the waffle maker. Using cooking spray will also ensure that the waffles are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. When making apple spice waffles, it is crucial to use cooking spray on the waffle maker as the spices in the batter can make the waffles stick to the waffle maker. Tip 9: Use a Timer Using a timer is an excellent way to ensure that your waffles are cooked perfectly. Using a timer will prevent the waffles from overcooking or undercooking, resulting in waffles that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. When making apple spice waffles, it is important to use a timer as the spices in the batter can make the waffles cook faster. Tip 10: Serve with Whipped Cream and Maple Syrup Serving apple spice waffles with whipped cream and maple syrup is a match made in heaven. The whipped cream adds a creamy texture, while the maple syrup enhances the apple spice flavor. When making apple spice waffles, make sure to serve them with whipped cream and maple syrup to make them extra delicious. Conclusion: Making apple spice waffles recipes seems easy, but it requires a lot of patience and attention to detail to make them perfectly. By following these valuable tips mentioned above, you can make apple spice waffles that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delicious apple spice flavor. So, the next time you’re in the mood for some delicious waffles, try making apple spice waffles for breakfast.
