- Place apple slices on microwaveable plate. Coat lightly with butter-flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with pecans, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Microwave on High about 3 to 4 minutes, tossing occasionally, or until soft.
- Toast pita. Spoon apple mixture onto pita and top with a dollop of whipped topping.

- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- In a bowl combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Place mixture in a pastry-lined 9 inch pie plate. Dot with butter and adjust top crust that has been vented.
- Place in oven and bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 10 minutes. Turn oven temperature down to 275-300 degrees F (135-150 degrees C) and bake 40-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender. Let cool and serve.

- Preheat oven to 375°. In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture; toss to coat. , On a lightly floured surface, roll one half of dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim even with rim. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edge. Cut slits in top. Beat egg white until foamy; brush over crust. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge loosely with foil. , Bake 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 20-25 minutes longer. Cool on a wire rack.

To make apple pie in a pita, the following ingredients are needed:For the pita bread:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ¾ cups of warm water
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
For the apple pie filling:
- 4 cups of thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith recommended)
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- ½ cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
Directions
Making the pita bread:
- Mix the flour and salt together in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix the yeast, sugar, and water, and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
- Add the olive oil to the yeast mixture, and pour it into the mixing bowl with the flour and salt. Mix until the dough forms a ball.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch the dough down, and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a circle about ⅛ inch thick.
- Place each circle on a baking sheet, and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the breads puff up.
- Remove from the oven and let the breads cool.
Making the apple pie filling:
- Peel and core the apples, and slice them thinly.
- Toss the apples with the lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat, and add the apple mixture to the skillet.
- Cook the apples for about 10-15 minutes until they are soft and the liquid has thickened.
- Remove from the heat and let it cool.
Assembling the apple pie pitas:
- Take one pita bread and cut open the top layer to form a pocket.
- Add a spoonful of the apple pie filling into the pocket.
- Repeat with the rest of the pita breads and apple pie filling.
- Serve and enjoy!
