This is really a delicious dessert. I don't usually like raisins in a lot of things, but I do like it in this recipe. Recipe is from Paula Deen's magazine.

1 1/3 cups sugar
1 cup golden raisin
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • In large bowl, combine sugar, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Add apples, tossing gently to coat.
  • Place apples in prepared baking dish.
  • For topping, in large bowl, combine brown sugar and flour.
  • Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over apple mixture.
  • Bake 30-40 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden.

Wanted to make something for dessert so I threw a few things together and came up with a simple Apple crisp. You'll need just four basic ingredients to make this comforting dessert. Started at 4:00 pm and had a warm dessert at 6:00 pm. Serve with whipped cream or al-a-mode.

1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
1 (18 1/4 ounce) package cinnamon crumb cake mix, with cinnamon topping
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Place pie filling in large bowl. Break up apples with a pastry blender/cutter.
  • Place half of cinnamon topping with apple filling and place in a 1-1/2 quart slow cooker.
  • Combine dry cake mix, 3 Tablespoons of cinnamon topping and butter (mixture will be crumbly); sprinkle over filling.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon topping and walnuts if desired. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours. Serve in bowls.

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF.For the fruit filling:In a large mixing bowl, toss together the apples, lemon juice, sugar, and flour. Pour the apple mixture into a buttered 2-quart baking dish and set aside.For the topping:In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. With a food processor, a pastry blender, or your fingers work the butter into the flour mixture just until it comes together and large clumps form. 4 large Granny Smith apples (2 lb.), peeled, thinly sliced
1/2 cup packed brown sugar, divided
2 tsp. ground cinnamon, divided
1/3 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup cold margarine
25 reduced-fat vanilla wafers, crushed
1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Toss apples with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon; place in 8- or 9-inch square baking dish.
  • Combine oats, remaining sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl. Cut in margarine with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in wafer crumbs; sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake 30 to 35 min. or until apples are tender. Serve topped with COOL WHIP.

This is another recipe I grew up on. This is one of several ways my Aunt makes Apple Crisp. Enjoy!

1 egg
1 c each - sugar & flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
enough peeled, core and sliced apples to fill a 9 inch pie plate - mines a deep dish, i used 8 granny smith
1/3 c melted butter
cinnamon to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Butter a 9 inch pie plate. Fill with sliced tart apples.
  • 2. In a food processor add the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder, pulse a couple times to mix, then add egg. Pulse until you have fine crumbs.
  • 3. Evenly pour this mixture over your apples. Pour melted butter evenly over the crumbs and sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon.
  • 4. Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. ( If the topping begins to get too brown, before the apples are tender - just cover with a piece of foil. ) Serve with ice cream. Yum!
