BLUE CHEESE & BACON BURGERS

Blue Cheese & Bacon Burgers image

My husband and I had burgers at a restaurant once that had blue cheese and bacon. It was so good, so I attempted to make our own. After lots of trial and error, I've got the recipe down. I typically make the burgers and freeze them for future use. The blue-cheese butter freezes well too for steaks or other uses.

Time 35m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (8 ounce) package of crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 lbs ground beef (the 75/25 or 85/15 works best...but you can use a leaner meat since there's so much butter in the re)
1 egg, mixed
1/4 cup breadcrumbs, unseasoned
1/4 cup fresh parsley, fresh chopped (you can also add some chives)
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 lb bacon, get a good thick deli sliced one or 1 lb pepper bacon

Steps:

  • Mix together the softened butter and blue cheese until well mixed. Roll into a log about 2-3 inches in diameter and wrap in Parchment paper. Refrigerate until hardened. You can also freeze if you don't plan to use for a while.
  • Once the butter is hardened, mix together the remaining ingredients in a large bowl by hand. Form the meat into 4-6 balls (depending on how big you want your burgers).
  • Slice 1/2 inch slices from hardened blue cheese/butter log. Place each butter/blue cheese circle into the middle of the burger ball and press into middle, shaping into a thick burger shape. Repeat for all remaining burgers. Ensure that butter/blue cheese is sealed into the middle of the meat. Grill burgers until desired doneness.
  • Cook bacon as usual on stove or oven. If you have non-peppered bacon, add a generous amount of pepper before cooking.
  • Serve burgers on your favorite bun with bacon. Add your favorite toppings -- fresh tomatoes, lettuce, extra blue cheese, ketchup, mustard, extra blue cheese, etc.
  • These are awesome! I love to make them huge -- 1/3 to 1/2 pounders and serve without a bun and have a salad as a side dish. They are so yummy!

BACON BLUE CHEESE BURGERS

Bacon Blue Cheese Burgers image

Very moist and cheesy burgers! Perfect for your cookout or anytime. These were featured on the local news for tailgating recipes for the Packers at Lambeau Field. I usually use kaiser rolls for the buns, as these are nice and juicy. If they are in season, be sure to throw some sliced Vidalia onions on top.

Burgers are one of the most popular fast foods in the world. From fast-food chains to gourmet restaurants, burgers can be found everywhere. And if you’re a fan of burgers, then you must have tried the blue cheese bacon burgers recipe at least once in your life. This recipe is loved by everyone, be it a meat lover or a vegetarian. But to make an amazing blue cheese bacon burger, there are some tips and tricks that you need to know. In this article, we’ll be discussing some valuable tips that you can use to make the best blue cheese bacon burgers.

Tip 1: Choose the Right Meat

The meat you choose is the foundation of your burger. So, it’s essential to choose the right one. When it comes to making blue cheese bacon burgers, ground beef is the most popular option. But not all ground beef is created equal. To get the best results, try to choose beef that has around 15-20% fat content. This will give your burgers a juicy, flavorful center, without being too fatty.

Tip 2: Season Your Meat

A great burger needs more than just meat. You need to add some flavor to it. Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings of your choice to the beef mixture. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different spices and herbs to make the burger even more flavorful. For example, you could add garlic powder, chili powder, or smoked paprika.

Tip 3: Try Different Cheeses

While blue cheese might be the classic choice for a blue cheese bacon burger, there are plenty of other cheeses you can use to make your burger even more delicious. Gouda, cheddar, and brie are all great options that will add a unique flavor and texture to your burger. Experiment with different cheeses until you find the one that you love the most.

Tip 4: Cook Your Bacon Properly

Bacon is a crucial component of a blue cheese bacon burger. But, if you don’t cook it properly, it can ruin the entire flavor of the burger. To get perfect bacon, cook it on a skillet over medium heat until it’s crispy. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn. Once it’s done, place it on a paper towel to remove any excess oil.

Tip 5: Toast Your Buns

The bun is just as important as the meat when it comes to making a burger. To take your blue cheese bacon burger to the next level, toast the bun. You could do this by placing it on a skillet for around 30 seconds on each side until it’s golden brown. This will add a crunchy texture to the burger and enhance the flavor.

Tip 6: Add Toppings

Toppings are what make a burger unique. When it comes to blue cheese bacon burgers, there are plenty of toppings you can add to make it even more delicious. Some popular options include lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and jalapenos. You could also add avocado slices or fried egg to take it to the next level.

Tip 7: Don’t Overcook Your Meat

Overcooking your meat is a common mistake when it comes to making burgers. To get the best flavor and texture, cook your burger for around 4-5 minutes on each side. This will give it a crispy exterior and a juicy center. Make sure to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the burger. The ideal temperature for a medium-rare burger is 130-135°F.

Conclusion

Making an amazing blue cheese bacon burger requires some effort, but it’s worth it. By following these tips, you can take your burger game to the next level and impress your friends and family. So, go ahead and experiment with different ingredients and techniques until you find the perfect recipe that suits your taste buds.
