PEACH JAM WITH AMARETTO LIQUEUR

Peach Jam with Amaretto Liqueur image

Opinions differ how this jam tastes best. Some members of our family like it as a spread on toast, others add it to a bowl of natural yogurt. Both are very tasty.

Time 30m

Yield 90

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 ½ cups finely chopped, peeled peaches
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 cups sugar
1 (1.75 ounce) package fruit pectin (such as Sure-Jell® Pectin Light for less or no sugar)
⅓ cup amaretto liqueur, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Inspect 5 half-pint jars for cracks and rings for rust, discarding any defective ones. Immerse in simmering water until jam is ready. Wash new, unused lids and rings in warm soapy water.
  • Mix peaches with lemon juice in a large pot immediately after chopping to prevent peaches from turning brown. Place pot over medium heat.
  • Mix 1/4 cup of the sugar with pectin and add it to the pot with the peaches. Stir well. Slowly bring to a full rolling boil that does not stop bubbling when stirred. Add the remaining sugar and stir well, scraping the bottom of the pot, to fully dissolve the sugar. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in amaretto liqueur.
  • Ladle peach jam immediately into the prepared jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of the top. Run a clean knife or thin spatula around the insides of the jars to remove any air bubbles. Wipe rims with a moist paper towel to remove any spills. Top with lids and tightly screw on rings.
  • Place a rack in the bottom of a large stockpot and fill halfway with water. Bring to a boil and lower jars 2 inches apart into the boiling water using a holder. Pour in more boiling water to cover jars by at least 1 inch. Bring to a rolling boil, cover, and process for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the jars from the stockpot and place onto a cloth-covered or wood surface, several inches apart. Let rest for 24 hours without moving the jars. Gently press the center of each lid with a finger to ensure the lid does not move up or down. Remove the rings for storage and store in a cool, dark area.

Peaches are a widely celebrated fruit, known for their sweet and fragrant flesh. One popular way to enjoy peaches is by incorporating them into a delicious and refreshing dessert like the amaretto peach parfait. This dessert is not only easy to make, but it is also a crowd-pleaser that can be served at any time of the year. Here are some valuable tips to bear in mind when making amaretto peach parfait recipes.

Tip 1: Use Fresh peaches

When preparing the amaretto peach parfait recipe, it is essential to use fresh peaches to achieve maximum flavors. Fresh peaches are juicier and have a more vibrant flavor than canned ones, which can be too sweet and syrupy. When selecting peaches, ensure that they are ripe, fragrant, and have a golden yellow hue. If you are unable to find ripe peaches, you can opt for a different variety of peach that might be ripe at the time of purchase.

Tip 2: Use high-quality Amaretto liquor

Amaretto is a sweet Italian liquor made from almonds or apricot kernels. It has a nutty and somewhat bitter taste that complements the sweetness of peaches. When making amaretto peach parfait, it is crucial to use high-quality Amaretto liquor to enhance the flavor of the recipe. Cheap Amaretto can be too sweet or bitter, and it might overpower the flavors of the peaches. It is advisable to use a moderate amount of Amaretto to avoid making the dessert too strong.

Tip 3: Add in other flavors to enhance the taste

While Amaretto and peaches create a fantastic combination, there are other flavors you can add to give your parfait an extra kick. For instance, you could add a touch of vanilla extract to add a warm, mellow flavor. You could also add in some cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger to create a more complex flavor. It is worth experimenting with a few different spices and extracts to see which flavor combination works well for you.

Tip 4: Serve parfait in a glass

When serving amaretto peach parfait, it is best to present it in a glass. This way, the colorful layers of the parfait will be displayed to their full advantage. A clear glass will enable guests to relish the colorful layers of the dessert. Alternatively, you could use a champagne flute to elevate the presentation of the parfait.

Tip 5: Make sure to chill the parfait before serving

The amaretto peach parfait is best served when chilled; therefore, it is vital to refrigerate it for a few hours before serving. This will allow the layers to settle and the flavors to meld together, creating a rich and creamy dessert. If possible, chill the parfait for up to 4 hours before serving to achieve the perfect texture and flavor.

Tip 6: Garnish with fresh fruits, nuts or whipped cream

To add a unique touch to the amaretto peach parfait, you can choose to garnish it with fresh fruits, nuts or whipped cream. Fresh berries, such as raspberries or blueberries can add vibrant hues to the parfait, while nuts like almonds or hazelnuts can provide a crunchy texture. Whipped cream could give your parfait a light and fluffy look, adding a beautiful finish to your masterpiece.

Tip 7: Experiment with different textures and layers

While the traditional amaretto peach parfait recipe consists of layers of peaches, whipped cream, and amaretto liquor, you can experiment with different textures and layers to create a more varied dessert. For instance, you could add a layer of crumbled cookies or biscuits to provide a crunchy texture. Additionally, you could add a layer of yogurt or cream cheese to provide a creamy texture to your dessert.
Conclusion
The amaretto peach parfait recipe is a delectable and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. However, preparing this dessert requires some specific tips and techniques to create the perfect flavors and texture. By following these valuable tips, you can create a perfect dessert that will delight your guests, whether it's for a summer barbecue or a holiday dinner party.
