Ingredients

  • 1 cup of All-Bran cereal
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of gluten-free flour
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp of nutmeg powder
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of raisins

Tips for Making All Bran Original Jumbo Raisin Spice Cookies

1. Measure the Ingredients Accurately
One of the most critical aspects of baking is to measure the ingredients accurately. Baking is a science, and even a slight error in the measurements can cause the recipe to fail. Use measuring cups and spoons to ensure that you are measuring the ingredients correctly.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients Well
Mix the All-Bran cereal, all-purpose flour, gluten-free flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon powder, and nutmeg powder in a bowl until well combined. This step helps in breaking down any lumps in the flour and ensures that the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
3. Melt the Butter Carefully
Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave carefully. Heating the butter too much can cause it to burn and alter the flavor of the cookies.
4. Beat the Egg Well
Beat the egg well until it becomes frothy. Beating the egg helps in incorporating air and giving a nice texture to the cookies.
5. Mix the Wet and Dry Ingredients Together
Add the melted butter, beaten egg, vanilla extract, and raisins to the dry ingredients mixture. Mix everything together until well combined. The dough should be thick and sticky.
6. Let the Dough Rest
Let the dough rest for about 15-20 minutes. Resting the dough helps in hydrating the flour and ensures that the cookies remain moist.
7. Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Preheating the oven ensures that the temperature is consistent, and the cookies bake evenly.
8. Use a Cookie Scoop
Use a cookie scoop to make uniform-sized cookies. Scoop out a portion of the dough onto a lined baking tray.
9. Flatten the Cookies Slightly
Lightly flatten the cookies with your fingers to shape them into a round shape. Do not flatten the cookies too much; they will spread out while baking.
10. Bake the Cookies
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Overbaking the cookies can cause them to become dry and hard.
11. Cool the Cookies
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
12. Store the Cookies Appropriately
Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. You can also freeze the cookies for up to a month if you want to preserve them for longer.

Conclusion

With these tips, you can make delicious All Bran Original Jumbo Raisin Spice Cookies like a pro. Remember to measure the ingredients accurately, mix the dry ingredients well, and use a cookie scoop to make uniform-sized cookies. Don't forget to flatten the cookies slightly before baking and cool them on a wire rack once they're done. With these steps, you can enjoy homemade, gluten-free, and nutritious cookies that are perfect for snacking anytime.
