Spicy Thai Chicken Stir Fry image

The Thai stir fry sauce used in this recipe is a fantastic versatile stir fry sauce! It's similar to many well known Thai stir fries like Pad See Ew, Thai Chilli Basil Chicken and Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao). Make this using ground/mince chicken, pork or turkey. See notes for how to use this sauce for other stir fries. Ensure all ingredients are ready to toss into the wok before you start cooking because once you start, it cooks fast!

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 tsp light soy sauce ((Note 1))
1 tsp dark soy sauce ((Note 1))
2 tsp fish sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp cooking oil ((I use peanut or vegetable oil))
3 Thai or birds eye chillis or other small hot red chilli (, finely chopped (Note 2))
4 garlic cloves (, finely chopped)
1 small onion (, halved and sliced (brown, white or yellow))
500 g / 1 lb ground / mince chicken
3 shallot / scallions stems (, chopped into slices)
1 cup coriander/cilantro leaves ((loosely packed))
Steamed jasmine rice

Steps:

  • Mix Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Heat oil in a wok or heavy based skillet over high heat. Add garlic and chilli - cook for 15 seconds.
  • Add onion and cook for 45 seconds.
  • Add chicken and cook, breaking it up as you go. When it changes from pink to white, add Sauce. Cook until the liquid mostly disappears - about 2 minutes.
  • Stir through shallots. Then stir through coriander and immediately take off the heat.
  • Serve immediately with jasmine rice or other rice - or for a low carb, low cal option, try Cauliflower Rice! Add slices of cucumber and tomato wedges (very authentic Thai!). Garnish with extra chilli and coriander if desired.

Actifried chicken is typically made by coating the chicken with a crunchy, seasoned coating before placing it in the air fryer. Many recipes call for a mixture of flour, bread crumbs, and spices to create the perfect balance of flavor and texture. The chicken is then cooked in the air fryer until crispy and golden brown.

Actifried chicken and wheat stir fry recipes are easy to make meals that are filled with essential nutrients that are beneficial to the body. The lean protein from the chicken, combined with the vitamins and minerals from the wheat stir fry, makes for a great combination. However, it can sometimes be difficult to get the recipe right, especially if you're not familiar with the ingredients. In this article, we will be providing some valuable tips to help you create the perfect actifried chicken and wheat stir fry dish.

Choosing the Right Chicken

The quality of the chicken you use plays a very important role in the overall taste of your actifried chicken and wheat stir fry. When choosing your chicken, it is best to go for leaner cuts, such as chicken breast or thigh. These cuts of chicken will cook faster and are more tender than other cuts. It is also important to look for chicken that is free from antibiotics and hormones to avoid health complications.

Properly Preparing Your Chicken

To ensure that your actifried chicken and wheat stir fry is delicious and well-cooked, it is important to properly prepare your chicken before cooking. Clean and rinse the chicken, and then pat dry with paper towels. You can then season the chicken with salt, pepper and other preferred spices. Let it rest for a few minutes, so the flavors can meld together before cooking.

Cooking the Chicken

To cook the chicken, preheat your air fryer to 380°F for at least 5-10 minutes. Place the chicken inside the actifry basket and let it cook for approximately 10 minutes or more depending on the size of the chicken. Ensure that you turn the chicken occasionally to prevent it from burning. You can also add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to make the chicken more crispy, but this is optional.

Choosing the Right Wheat Stir Fry

The wheat stir fry is just as important as the chicken in this recipe. It is important that you choose the right type and quality of wheat stir fry to ensure that your dish is not only healthy, but it tastes great too. Look for whole grain options like brown rice or quinoa to give your recipe some added nutrients. You can also incorporate different vegetables like carrots, green beans and bell peppers to add more flavors and textures to your dish.

Properly Preparing the Wheat Stir Fry

Prior to cooking, it is important to clean the wheat stir fry with clean water to remove any dust or dirt. Rinse with clean water and then drain. Once drained, you can add the required amount of water to the wheat stir fry and let it soak for approximately 30 minutes to an hour depending on the package instruction. You can also add vegetables like onions, garlic or other spices to enhance the taste of your dish.

Cooking the Wheat Stir Fry

Once the wheat stir fry and vegetables are properly soaked, you can start cooking them. It is best to use a non-stick frying pan, but a wok can also be used. Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and let it heat for a few seconds before adding in the vegetables. Stir fry the vegetables for a few minutes before adding in the wheat stir fry. Let it cook for approximately 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it is done. You can then season with salt, pepper or any preferred spices to taste.

Combining the Chicken and Wheat Stir Fry

Once the chicken and wheat stir fry are properly cooked, combining them is very easy. You can start by adding the wheat stir fry into the actifry basket with the chicken and stir to mix them together. Let it cook for an additional 5-10 minutes while stirring occasionally. Once done, you can serve immediately.
